Michelangelo is now at a solid 2u. I'm really hoping to see some greens tonight. He's still not back up to his 2.5u levels from back when he got sick in August, so I'm not too worried about it. I'm still just wondering what happened to cause such a sharp decrease in his need of insulin and now this steady rise back up that's taking waaaay too long to get back to pre-colitis dosage levels. I even have a couple of Think Tank posts asking about it.

Oh, well. :YMSIGH: I knew that I'd encounter some strange things with him vs. adult feline diabetics, but this is one I'm still looking for a reason why...kinda like how I'm still trying to figure out what's "broken" in his pancreas. Is it insulin resistance or a problem in the insulin manufacturing process or in the monitoring of sugar levels or a million other things?

Sorry to hear you're not having much luck with Michelangelo! I know how you feel though! Seems like a lot of our kitties are having higher than normal numbers lately and nobody seems to know why!

All we can do is keep on plugging along and hope at some point, it'll all make sense I guess.

Maybe he's just bulking up on insulin for winter. ;-) But, if he doesn't hit green tonight, I'm increasing again.

Wow that really was a solid yellow weekend, without the kind of active cycle you might expect after a typical flat yellow surf. @-)

Well, I got the green I was looking for. He just gave me a 68 at his +11. I sometimes worry about how low he might have dropped in between (hypo?) when I'm gone all day and then he gives me a low number like that. But then, the days when I am home, he's proven to be quite capable of safely surfing along those lows for hours on end without any intervention from me (besides making sure he has food available).

I don't think he's eaten all day (he was sleeping in the same spot still when I came home) so that might be contributing to this super-late low. I thought we'd moved past those low pre-shots a few weeks ago...guess not. :YMSIGH:

Yep he can handle it. Green is actually a good thing. He's better off when he's used to it. And so are you?

The problem comes when they get used to all the yellow or worse. Then you can get into the bouncing and diving drama.

Food spike! I shot him anyway because Mikey doesn't ever go lower after eating, just continues to climb up. Plus, he's eating Second Dinner now, anyway. Quite the little hobbit appetite.
