Good morning,

Yesterday's condo

11/4 AMPS=131; +2=202; +10.5=184
11/4 PMPS=184; +2=124; +4=115

11/5 AMPS=133; +2=157; +7.5=175
11/5 PMPS=207

Lucy is doing good.

We got rest of the lab results back yesterday, and I have some news.

Ginger's additional urine test indicates that the protein in her urine was NOT significant.
So her CKD is NOT progressing as fast/badly as the vet originally thought!
Yay!!!
The vet said that now is the optimal time to do her dental, while her kidney is functioning.
Although it's not urgent, if I wait too long, her conditions may worsen and it will not be safe to put her under anesthesia.
So.... Ginger has a dental appointment today.... another fasting.....
Ginger is not going to be happy about this, but it's better to get it over with.

I got Lucy's cobalamin and folate result too.
Her cobalamin is low, so we are upping her V-B12 injection from once a month (now) to once a week.
Her folate is high, but the vet thinks it's not harmful.
She said that the main thing is to bring her V-B12 value up.
I am excited about increasing V-B12.... maybe she'll feel better and eat better....

So today, I am dropping Ginger off at the vet, and then dropping my friend's cat Grendel to their vet for a whole day IV fluids (details in yesterday's condo) in the morning, then go to the office, come back to pick Ginger up, work from home for a while and then pick Grendel up in the evening.
It seems I am going to the veterinary clinic every day since Saturday. :roll:

Anyway so I am really hoping that Lucy stays nice and safe today

Yay that Ginger's CKD isn't as bad as they first thought. I hope her dental goes well today and Lucy surfs safely for you. Sending prayers for Grendel.

Wonderful news about Ginger's CKD! Too bad she needs the dental ASAP, but yes...better now than waiting till she can't have it done. Hopefully the extra B12 will kick in quickly for sweet Lucy!

Lucy,you stay safe today. Mommabean has a busy day today. Hopefully the shots will make you feel like a kitten again. Glad Ginger's bloodwork came back good. Hopefully they won't steal any of her teeth while she is asleep. Sending many healing vines for Ginger and Lucy nailbite_smile

Ginger's dental went great.
Everything went smoothly, but they wanted keep her for a few hours on IV fluids after the procedure, so I picked her up around 4pm.
She is so happy to be home.

30 minutes after I got home, my friend Paul called me that his vet just called to tell him his cat Grendel was in bad shape.
He had been on IV fluids at his vet since this morning, so we drove the to the vet as fast as we could, but by the time we got there, Grendel was gone.
His bloodwork indicated that his kidney was extremely in bad conditions.
They said he just collapsed while on IV, and they could not revive him.
Grendel never really warmed up to me although I was the one to take care of him whenever Paul went away.
He was a one-man's cat.
I made sure that every time I visited I gave him his favorite foods and treasts, and he was just starting to let me pet him only as I put down the plate.
I have known him for 10 years.
Paul always enjoyed playing with Lucy when she was a kitten, even before I knew her.
Lucy used to belong to my ex-boyfriend, and Paul and my ex were friends way before I knew them and Lucy.
So my ex gave Grendel to Paul as a birthday present 15 years ago.
They had been a cute team since then, a middle aged single man and a male cat.
I am very sad today, and my heart is broken for Paul.

I am so very sorry about Grendel. It's never easy, even though we know they are whole and happy and safe at the bridge until we get there to be with them. Many prayers for Paul as he mourns Grendel's passing.

I'm glad all went well with Ginger's dental. You must be relieved to have her back home!

So sorry to hear of Grendel's passing

Even though he wasn't "your" cat, in a way he was still part of your extended family.

aw, i'm so sorry about grendel. i can imagine a middle-aged man with his very special cat - i'm sure he was Paul's special family. :YMHUG:

(((Mariko))) what an emotional day for you. I'm glad to hear that Lucy and Ginger are doing well and that Ginger did well on her dental. I hope that's it for vetty visits for you for a while.

What a bittersweet day~

So happy to hear about Ginger's good labs and dental. And hoping Lucy feel better with the B increase. :-D

Sorry for you friends loss of Grendel, and for your loss too. Sounds like Grendel has been a part of your life for a long time.
