Yesterday's really bad day

11/4 AMPS 103,+6 136, PMPS 185,+2.5 118,+6 76,+7 79

Not too thrilled with the AMPS but feeling a lot better than yesterday!! Don't know what got into her but sure wasn't a typical day for China!!

She's surfing a little higher than usual today, but at least she's back into green.....I kind of expect a blue PMPS tonight though

DM has had a better day, but she scared the crap out of me last night. I always call her around 10:30 to make sure she remembers to take her nighttime meds and say "goodnight".....Last night she had forgotten to get a glass of water so said she was going to go get one. Next thing I heard was a lot of crashing, banging and other noise and then the phone went quiet.....Not dead....just quiet

Tried calling back several times but it just went to voice mail so I got dressed and headed back over there. She was sitting on the edge of the bed and OK, but she'd put the phone down in the kitchen when she went in there and just left it sitting on the counter. She said the noise I heard was when she dropped a glass into the sink.

At least she was OK!! I did sit down with her and flat out told her that if things didn't improve soon, she was going to have to go back to the nursing home. At first she was just really quiet but then said "I'm not afraid to go back"....but there were tears in her eyes

Things are still up in the air...going to take her into the GP Monday (if I can get in) for a follow-up from the ER Thursday and discuss it more.

Thanks to all who've sent vines and prayers....I appreciate them more than you know! I tried to talk to my daughter in-law (who's the assistant director of the nursing home) yesterday about who else I might talk to about possibly getting her more home care (to keep her in her apartment) but she never returned my phone call (Probably because my son told her not to....he doesn't ever want me talking to her)

So I'm left to figure it out on my own...being able to just talk about it here helps more than you know.:bighug:

Now if I can just get China back on full time Lagoon Duty (I know....I don't ask for much....LOL)

Chris, I am sorry that your DM is having such a difficult time and you too! Glad to see China back in green for you! I hope that you understood that I meant to not give up on China going OTJ in yesterday's condo.

Hi Chris, so so sorry about your scare with your DM. :bighug::bighug:
Do you have a senior center in town? They were our help when we were trying to find someone to come in and help my mom stay in her home. They connected us with Visiting Angels. It helped for a time and bought some breathing room to figure out what next..:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
Glad China is back keeping the lagoon safe again!!:D

You are such a good person to be taking care of your mum. :bighug: It ain't easy. My mum slugged a security guard who was preventing her from leaving the nursing home. She was an ornery old ... well, let's just say she was a highly determined individual. stubborn as an old mule. I can't count the number of phone calls. (The 2nd hand old lady undervests weren't the worst Christmas present I received during that time.) I hope all goes well on Monday and please take advantage of any rest you can. Does she have one of those alarm buttons that you wear around your neck?

China might not have the numbers you want to see or losing fluff as fast as she should. I realize that staying on top of FB is important but she is looking mighty fine. It's always a toss up who has the most boring (a good thing) numbers. China or Leda?

So sorry to hear about your mum's scare, it sounds like a very emotional night for you both. I hope you get the care sorted out for her, it must be difficult for you to organise that on your own.
Glad that China is back in the lagoon though, right where she belongs :-)

Oh I'll never give up hoping!! It doesn't happen often, but I've seen a handful of "old timers" do it since we've been here so I'll never give up totally!! Just kind of discouraging to see how awful she did yesterday with only 1 furshot

Do you have a senior center in town?

Yes...the apartment building she lives in is connected to the Senior Nutrition site....I'm going to try to get in to talk to them next week and see if they have anything to offer

Does she have one of those alarm buttons that you wear around your neck?

Yes she does, but at this point, I really don't think she'd remember to use it

By the way.....Is everybody else having as much trouble as we are convincing our cats that their stomach alarms are wrong??? Since we're adjusting shot times back, feeding times have been moving back too and you'd think that their stomachs thought that I cut their throats! They're driving me crazy!!

Almost time kitties....hang in there another 20 minutes or so (of course it's just going to be worse tomorrow.....the clock may say 6, but their stomachs are going to be saying 7!!)

The Lagoon is a much cheerier place with Deputy China back on duty!
By the by, thanks Chris for posting the info on ordering insulin from Canada, it just saved Leda and me a bundle (and the folks at Marks Marine were so sweet!).

Happy to share my good fortune with everybody!! When I first found Marks, we were 3 weeks from having to take China off Lantus because I couldn't afford it again and nobody within 150 miles would sell me a single pen. I'd been doing internet searches for over a month looking for someplace cheaper but all that came up were those "website" pharmacies in Canada that had horrible reviews. Then one day Marks popped up and since they had an 800 number, I called! Talked to the pharmacy manager for almost 2 hours asking questions and checking them out...even had a friend of mine that lives in Vancouver check into them!!

They have saved a lot of kitties lives....and they really understand the meaning of "customer service"! Nice to find these days!!

I haven't been on much lately. Just too hard. I'm sorry to hear your mom is having more issues. How you thought about getting a companion roommate for your mom? Someone to be there to help out in exchange for a place to live? Just a thought. My parents did that for my grandma and were able to keep her in her apartment. :bighug:

(((Chris))), I hope that you can work something out for your mom. I know how difficult it can be. Your mom is dealing with a lot, too, and it is clear that she is thinking about her situation. She is a very brave woman.

Yo Deputy China, I'm on shore today (the time change messed me up, I think). So it's great that you're on duty. Good job!
