Yesterday

Thank you for all the support yesterday...I really am doing my best to NOT get too stressed with these icky gross yellow numbers as long as Ms P steps up and does her thing. I tell ya, though, my nerves are rattled. C'mon, Trix...no need to tease me like this!!

It is so odd that she has done this sort of thing at the same time of year in previous years. I wonder why that is?

Not quite as big of a drop as yesterday, but a drop none-the-less. If I have time, I'm going to grab an "out the door" test today, just out of curiosity. Hopefully I wont regret that! It won't be too far away, timewise, from her last feeding, but I am curious.

Anyway, she's still being happy appy radiant snuggly feisty silly TrixieCat.

My new schedule seems to be working out well...it's amazing how much of a difference that one little extra hour of sleep seems to make - and how much more time it gives me to get stuff done in the mornings. And it doesn't have a huge impact on the kitties feeding schedule or on Trix's med schedule.

I didn't talk to my Dad yesterday, but I had to take my Mom to her eye appointment. His cold his much better, but he thought it would be best if he stayed in for another day, which is why I took my Mom. She gets injections for macular degeneration in one of her eyes, and while she can see well enough to drive, she does need a driver on injection days. Anyway, I guess he won this battle of not calling the doctor! Normally, I'm all for letting the body heal itself, but with chemo in the picture, it's a different ball game right now.

Time to get moving....have a great day, LL!

Hi Amy,
I'm glad you're liking your new schedule and your extra hour of sleep!!! I think you were talking the other day about putting a new battery in your meter. Did you do that yet? Have you tested the meter on yourself, or done any tests with your back-up meter? Whatever! As long as Trix is feeling good and acting good, I think you just have to worry less!

I'm sorry that your dad has a cold. He is going through a lot right now. How many more chemo sessions does he have? Sending him some extra-special vines today.

Have a good day and don't forget to vote!

Morning Amy ~O) ~O) ~O)

I am with Ella, I think all is going OK with Trixie. I sometimes feel too that season changes, when things start to get colder, have an effect on our kitties too. Numbers always seem to go up, at least they did with Mannie. hang in there, I think you and Trixie are doing great. I can understand how that amps is a bit unnerving, but the +1.5 does show Mr P is on duty. I suspect that a +3 would show an even further drop.

Hooray on the new schedule, and that it is kitty approved.

Healing vines for your dad. I m so glad he is feeling better.

Have a great day today!

Chemo does lower the body's immunity. As long as the cold doesn't become bronchitis or some other infection I think there would be no reason to call the doctor as you can't do much but treat the symptoms of a cold as we all know. Vines that the cold is gone quickly. Your dad is wise to nurse it at home and stay home and rest. Healing vines have been sent like I do every day.

Here's hoping for a visit from  tonight. I would think Trixie would be under food influence when you leave but what do I know. Just don't get upset with the out the door number in case I am right, okay?

...and there ya have it  . Ms. P sure loves her fuds! I do leave food out during the day and during the night, but I never know who eats it, since both Frankie and Zen like to snack on it, too. Trix won't use an autofeeder, so I can't try that route again. We'll just keep plugging away knowing that fuds will do the trick. What a crazy pancreas she has!

I did change the meter battery the other day - I knew I was grasping at straws with that idea. Needless to say, it didn't make a difference.

I think from now on, though, I'm going to continue with her AMBG test, and do her follow-up test right before I leave instead of doing it earlier like I have been.

We don't know how many more chemo treatments my Dad has. Since he was Stage 4, this is considered palliative, so it may or may not go on indefinitely, or they may switch protocols at sometimes. It's all wait-n-see. He hasn't has any follow-up scans yet - I don't know when the doc will want to do those.

Back to work!

How do you spell relief?   NOw you get to relax a bit today. I didn't realize an out the door test meant 3.5!

In my case "+3.5" was an "out the door" test, since that was the time I was heading "out the door" to work :-D ! Her pancreas sure is crazy....I swear that I'll get used to it one of these days!

amy, just a thought...

i think trixie is bouncing off herself without any exogenous insulin involved. we don't see it often, but it can happen. those rapid drops create the bounce. in other words, i think the high numbers you're seeing are strictly a reaction to the steep drops. not a need for exogenous insulin. it can become a vicious circle. i'm not so sure it can be controlled. imo, one has to just go with it like you have been.

the master of bouncing off himself was Riggs, but Trixie looks like she's coming in at a close second. scroll about 2/3 the way down his ss beginning about where June started an OTJ trial (march 2009). you can see the pattern.

just wanted to mention this because i don't think the high numbers are anything to worry about at this time...

That is so interesting....thank you so much, Jill! Ah, leave it to Trix to do things with her own flare!!

I bet I could stop the drops-n-bounces if I quit my job so I could feed her in small increments throughout the day  ! She has shown that a "+9" snack brings her down for PMBG, but unfortunately I can't pull it off most days, especially since she won't do the autofeeder thing.

I'm sure that +3.5 reading, plus the info from Jill, gave you a lot more peace of mind. Now you need to cut out that stress-inducing +1.5 test and I think your days will start better!

I'm glad your DF is feeling better. He's wise to stay in and take it easy. Sending lots more healing vines and, as always, prayers!

Well, there you have it! Trix is just being goofy! I guess she does indeed dance to a different drummer...but hot dog, the beat is pretty good. Now, mamabean, relax! I agree, skip those 1.5 tests. They don't tell you much about Trixie's upcoming day, but they sure can put some extra stress on yours.

Well Look at that amazing slide to green!! Go Trixie! Glad to hear you are getting in that extra hour of sleep- it's so important for healing! And here's tons more healing vines for your Dad and your mom too, glad he's getting over that cold and hopefully there will be no complications! :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Wow, Trixie!! She sure has her own way of doing things  I'm sure that 86 was a sight for sore eyes! Jill's post is so interesting. I always wondered if OTJ kitties could still bounce, and it looks like they can.

Could Trixie have mild seasonal allergies? You said her numbers have gone up at this time of year before, and that could explain it. My allergies have been acting up the past couple weeks in particular, and Brooklyn's have too. Brooklyn doesn't have very obvious symptoms - just some occasional sniffing noises. Just a thought! In any case, it's great to see that Ms P. is on duty.

Sending vines to your mom and dad!
