all is well in punkin land! little bit of kitty wrestling, quick bit of face-washing.

he looks very intent this morning like he's trying to send me some psychic message, but i'm not getting it. he's been walking around the house letting out an intermittent complaint - i may give him some food and see if that satisfies him, but he did just eat. usually that complaint means the box isn't perfect, but i just changed both boxes and they haven't been used yet. we'll see if he settles down.

cool & overcast here - a typical oregon fall day.

Very nice numbers there for Mr Punkin. I wonder if he just fells strange being in the normal range now?

well, i got the message.

took him out for a walk, which is so little you almost can't call it a walk. but we got the leash on and wandered around the back yard. he loves that until the neighbor's yard service leaf blowers came on.

brought him back in and he was still staring at me, so i tested him. was planning to go out to lunch with the DH - but apparently not yet. perhaps he needed more of a dose decrease again. we only went down .25 this morning. so . . . lucky boy got the gravy foods, not so lucky bean isn't going out for lunch, at least not yet.

i guess so - but i would guess there isn't another cat in town that gets as much attention as punkin!

now he's 55. retest in a few.

he is acting oddly still. he seems to want outside. went to the garage door and tried to claw it open. before i took him for the walk he'd followed me downstairs to the shop and howled there. then tried to open that door. but the good thing - when i came up the stairs he came up fast enough to beat me to the top, so that's awesome. mr energy guy.

:shock: 37? i gave him the rest of the can of high carb and added some karo to it. yikes. think i'm not going anywhere.

Wow, I missed all the action last night, I didn't know about the reduction this morning. Maybe alittle lot of shed action?

well i'm way more comfy in the 50's than 30's, but still. gave him a little bit more from another can - this one is friskies 5.5oz so i've got a bit more to work with than the FF 3oz.

i'm thinking another 1/2 dose tonight depending on what the rest of this cycle does. although i've probably shot him so full of carbs now that he may soar, or bounce from the 37.

geez i forgot how nervewracking this is, even when you've done it several times. glad you guys are there.

i'm going to be offline for an hour or so - the son will test punkin and call me. so don't worry when you don't see updates for a bit.

crazy little punkin is still trying to get the door to the garage open. i don't know what's up with that, but i guess i'm very glad he's telling me that things are not normal in his little body.

Well, well ,well! Seeing lots of action here. So, you know what to do and you have it under control. I so know the feeling now, even when you know what to do. Here's hoping for a nice, smooth rise in numbers.

i called him for the last test (99) and he didn't even come to the bottom of the stairway. i could practically hear him burping and rubbing his belly from upstairs. went down and got him and i swear he feels heavier. little oinker. that took 1 can of ff and 1/3 can of friskies, plus one blop of karo to get through, but he's fine now.

i imagine tonight i won't have to stay up with him til 1am like last night.

So glad it looks like today's drama is mellowing out for you. It must have been nerve-wracking, but I'm sure he enjoyed his pig out!
You must be excited.......and a bit nervous. Have you had a chance to let the doctors at CSU know how Punkin is doing? I bet they would be stoked to hear.
Hope everything continues going so well for him :-D

Wow has Punkin been working his doses lately!!! That's so funny....that he's full of all that HC nom nom gravy. You are also very hysterical about how nerve wracking it is to deal with low numbers again. It's so easy to be cool as a cuke when it is someone else's cat but to tell you the truth, I still get butterflies when Gracie throws me low 40s or 30s. Glad to see he is coming up.

All this is great news in light of the timing....it's about the end of the period where they thought his dose should start coming down and it has!!

BTW...I saw the recommendation to Josie to buy the syringe magnifyer on ADW. Not sure if I ever told you but I bought it and it was W-O-R-T-H-L-E-S-S! It seemed like a great idea but not for the way we draw doses. A regular higher powered, lit magnifying glass is much better.

you know i don't know what i was thinking. i couldn't decide on a dose tonight, and instead of following my own advice ohmygod_smile and what's been working by giving him a 1/2 dose, i just dropped it from 12.25 to 10. i hope i'm not up all night again tonight to pay for little brain blip. one of those things - i was standing there see-sawing the plunger in and out before putting it in the vial and thinking "wonder what dose i should give him?" and i just sorta picked a number.

very scientific. ohmygod_smile

glad you caught that on josie's condo - you hadn't said anything. good to know it's no good - i won't suggest it anymore. what was wrong with it marj?

yes, both punkin and anya were more than happy to eat all that gravy food. nom nom nom. anya is like the "pinky in the air, may i have a napkin please?" lady and punkin's like the "slurp burp slurp burp" kinda guy. :lol:

Yes, it's nerve wracking dealing with low numbers. Good thing we've got LL to help us deal, huh? I have to admit that I got a little anxious this afternoon when I saw punkin's 37 this afternoon. Hope all goes well tonight.

I couldn't see a darn thing with it....and it was really hard to manipulate with the syringe. Very very cumbersome. I couldn't use it at all. Bummer...I thought it had such promise.

So now we're just into "dial a dose" eh??? :lol: :lol: :lol:

punkin gave me a pass for the rest of the evening! i guess he's going to bounce - either that or he just didn't get enough insulin in tonight's shot. either way, i get to go to bed. who'd ever think that would be such a privilege! wahoo!
