Good morning.

The day has come. The vet will be here shortly after +7. Mikan has been fed and received insulin as usual. Apparently, for most cats 4-6 hour fast should be enough prior to anesthesia. Flat faced cats are at higher risk and they recommend 6-12 hours (why such a wide range?).

Now it's the infamous waiting game. Anticipatory anxiety is the worst! Wish us luck.

Hope everyone has a nice day!

Good morning Kit and Mikan, we are sending you both tons of good wishes, love and hugs for a very smooth procedure today. We will be thinking of you both all day and waiting to hear she’s fine and resting and recovering.

You've got this, Mama. She will do fine and it’s good her fast will be easy since it’s no biggie as she wouldn’t be eating them anyway.

We’ve got you in our prayers for smooth sailing today with an easy recovery for Mikan :bighug::kiss::bighug::kiss::bighug::kiss::bighug:

Hi Staci,
I'm a nervous wreck right now :nailbiting: just hoping to get this going!
All the cats seem to sense something - they are clingy and also confused why the heck they are not getting snacks as usual
A few more hours and the vet will be here. Mikan's high enough that a hypo-event is unlikely but I've got Karo ready just in case.
Can't wait to get this done!
Thanks for the prayers - really means a lot.
Hope you and Ivy are having a nice day! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

We are thinking of you. I am sure all the kitties are aware something is off the normal agenda.

What time will it begin (if not already)?
You got this,m Kit...she's gonna be fine!!!! :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

They are supposed to be here at 11am. It's 20 of, right now. Mikan's sleeping on the chair by me peacefully.
My poor baby...
I think my hair is turning gray or falling all off - This is the longest morning ever!

I can't concentrate on anything, Staci
I know!!:bighug::bighug::bighug:

I am so glad to hear she's done and recovering, That was a hard day for your baby girl.
Thanks for the update, Kit!
Onward to healing now and let's see how the BG works out., Hoping for some improvement soon!!

Hope you can rest a bit later, Kit. Once you get her settled and all the things you will have to do to get her comfortable tonight.
We are sending lots of good wishes for healing and recovery!!

I can't thank you enough Staci, for your kind support :bighug:
I am so relieved that it's all done now and she's recovering. The vet said that she did well under anesthesia and did not see any other sign of badness.
I hear that diabetic cats tend to be slow healers - but boy, she WAS HUNGRY! She ate like there was no tomorrow
How is she doing tonight, Kit, did she eat anything and could you give her insulin dose?
She's sleeping now on her favorite rocking chair. :) And Yes, her PMPS wasn't too bad and I gave her 6U as usual. Hope she'll recover well and start showing some improvement!

Hope you and Ivy have a lovely evening! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Yay! Smooth safe and quick recovery Mikan (and great job holding it today Mama Kit :bighug:)
Thanks Angela!
Amazing that I am still in one piece (at least physically :p).
Just so happy that my baby survived the ordeal. The vet said 1 week to heal up, but of course, FD always throws a curveball
Now we wait to see if this will make a difference!
Sending you and Cleo :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Oh my gosh, Kit -- what a stressful day!!! I am SO glad to read that Mikan came through it just fine, though, and is eating and napping comfortably.

I hope this note finds you with a big glass of wine in your hand. You've surely earned it today.

Sending hugs and all healing wishes to you and sweet Mikan!! :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

@Mikanmama
I'm so happy everything went well :cat:
Did she have to have any teeth pulled or were the 3 teeth just bad. I'm so glad she was so hungry when you got her home. I bet you after she's all healed up that you will start to see a big improvement in her numbers. I hope you can relax tonight. Sending lots of wishes for an easy recovery and healing.
Give her scritches for me :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::cat:

I’m so happy to hear that she was hungry. That has to be a great sign, Kit.:cat:
And good that you were able to give her dose tonight. Glad the vet thought she looked well otherwise.
Glad she’s sleeping in her happy place. I’m sure she is feeling happy to be safe with you.

It’s hard on us, too, like it is for them. Poor sweet baby. I know how worried you were.
I appreciate the update. Maybe I can sleep, too tonight :)
I feel relieved from your report.
Hope you can rest more easily tonight.
Give her gentle kisses from us :kiss::kiss:

Thanks Karen!
This has been a rough one! I can't tell you how relieved I feel now.
And so glad to see Mikan sleeping peacefully. She was so brave today!
I wish I could just keep watching her sleep - but my eyes are getting heavy too :p
Did have a glass of wine to wind down this evening (Chianti) with meat sauce pasta. I feel like I can finally taste and appreciate it all!
Hope you and Chispa are having a nice evening, Karen! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thank you Diane.
Yeah, all those bad 3 teeth were pulled. It must have been awful for her to have those bothering her.
She's tired and sleeping after eating a whole bunch :p
I can't thank you enough, Diane, for your kind words, support, and prayers. They meant so much more than you could imagine!
Sending you love and hugs, my friend! :bighug::kiss::bighug::kiss::bighug::kiss:

Aww, Staci. You are so kind.
You know, caring for FD kitty with additional problem can be such a lonely place. Encouragement and support from you have meant so much.
Knowing you would understand what I was going through gave me the strength I needed.
I had a horrible night last night, waking up so many times - Hope I can sleep better tonight!
Wishing you a peaceful night as well, Staci! :bighug::bighug::bighug:
