We're here! Two very long days on the road - which messed up our timing of Luci's insulin again! We're finally here and I'm now working on adjusting back to our normal schedule. Between traveling challenges and the end of DST - we didn't change the clock the night before in the hotel room and got up around 4 a.m. (clock said 5!)...oh well... we got an early start and got thru Atlanta at 7:30 a.m. - on a Sunday morning - thankfully traffic was very light and we didn't even have to use the express lane!
We were moving along nicely until we hit the Georgia Florida line and it was as if everyone decided that was 'the day' to drive to Florida...it went on and off like that for the entire state of Florida...stopped along the way to have dinner with a dear friend and then finally arrived just in time to give Luci a delayed, but not terribly, insulin injection.
She's still awfully tender in that foot and grumbles a lot when I set her on the testing towel...I understand and am doing my best to be super-gentle and minimizing the testing - at least until we see her vet here on Thursday. She's hobbling around and is holding it up when she walks but she doesn't go very far or very fast and falls down to lay on her side frequently. We bought a pet playpen to confine her at night and when we go out - the vet at home said no jumping so she really needs to take it easy for a few weeks - she said 8-12 weeks - OUCH! But she seems comfortable enough in her playpen and relaxes in there...fortunately we don't have any stairs here and she'll be glad when her foot heals and she can get back to the zoomies here - she loves to run back and forth the full-length of the place...just going to take her 2-3 months to get there.
Hope everyone has had a good day - I'm going to try to catch up but tonight is going to be an early night - I have 'jet lag' from driving....
