Hi everyone

Sorry very late condo today. I've been on the forum on and off today but never seemed to have time to start my thread and have yet to fire up the old laptop so my figures are in the world numbers. Remi is dunning about the same as yesterday.

He still is a little off his food and I think that the antibiotic is making him a little queasy. I gave it with food today at +2 but as per Sienne advice will double check with my vet tomorrow that he is happy with my dosing schedule. Poor remi has three things that could make him feel sick-the anti biotic, the kaminox and the accolate.

It's been seven days at this dose and all good so far so I guess I should think about reducing the dose. Not quite sure where you go after 0.25 is it to the drop in the needle ie 0.1?

Also I have another issue I need to address. Remi's has fleas  . For the first time in his life he has them. I've never had to deal with this before as remi is mainly an indoor cat and lives with just me and my partner. I have been trying to deal with it by flea combing him twice a day but they aren't going. Remi has chronic pancreatitis and asthma and so am hesitant about putting a chemical on him. Does anyone know if the flea drops you put on the back of the neck would affect his conditions. I will check with the vet tomorrow but am interested in anyone's experience. I have steamed the carpets in the hope that might kill them off but not sure it's done anything.

Cheers

Sarah

Love those greens. There's a picture of the 0.1U dose in the New to the Group Sticky, that's the next step.

The Fine dose pictorial guide shows what they look like in BD syringes.

Is Remi on an probiotic? Some antibiotics can get rid of the good stomach flora. It's pretty common for cats to be off their food when on an antibiotic.

Sorry, no advice on the fleas. A number of years ago I got rid of most of our carpet and with it, went the fleas. I have used Advantage and Revolution before, as have a number of people here.

I used Advantage and Revolution on punkin until we didn't have fleas any more. I'd asked here and people said no problem, just don't inject in the same area that you put the flea meds. It just took us a couple of months (applications) to get rid of them.

Yes, after 7 days in all normal numbers at any dose, you can reduce the dose and see if he holds. He's looking great.

from the TR Protocol guidelines:
Alternatively, at each newly reduced dose... try to make sure kitty maintains numbers in the normal range for seven days before reducing the dose further.

Since 2006 we've encouraged those practicing Tight Regulation to attempt reducing the dose from 0.25u to 0.1u before stopping insulin completely. During a two week OTJ trial, you want to see mostly green numbers (under 100) with only a few random blue numbers between 100 - 120 to help ensure a strong remission.
