Yesterday, blue and green day for Neko, and fleece hummingbird feeder cover. Yup, it's cold out there!

11/29 Recap:
AMPS 116 +6 155 +9 73  +10.5 79
PMPS 99  +4 131 +8 106

Neko's back to basic blue for now. She spent most of the morning in the house proper, it was just too cold out in the solarium. There were frost patterns on the glass this morning. She just now headed out to catch a few rays as it's warmed up a bit. She's looking pretty content on the fleece in her basket. Neko did go out very briefly yesterday afternoon onto the deck, and I'm tempted to take a picture of her footprints on the snow after seeing the ones that Dyana had of JD.

OT: I brought the hummingbird feeder in last night so it wouldn't freeze and took it out first thing (before even doing the cats). The hummers were so eager to get at the feeder that one landed on the feeder while I was still holding it. :o I've never been quite that close to a hummingbird before. There are at least two girl birds busy stocking up on their sugar today.

Nice blues for Neko today. I hope she heads back to the lagoon. How cool on the hummingbird.

Hi Wendy

Remi loves fleece as well and has two blankets that he loves to sit under on the sofa. Tonight I caught him in the bathroom having pulled off all the towels off the hot radiator and made a bed but didn't let him stay in there as that was where he was the evening he had his asthma attack the other night.

Hope Neko starts showing you those greens soon.

Almost the same as this time yesterday.

@Carla, Sarah - I've got a green theme going today. The fleece blankie Neko was on is green, and so was the head/back of the female hummingbird. Sarah - radiators are a cat magnet aren't they. All we've got are vents, but Neko's back on her memory foam bed which is in front of a vent.

Hi Wendy,
I'm glad that you were able to keep the hummingbirds' food from freezing. Do you have flowers in bloom at this time of year? I'm curious about what they eat in the wild if they stay all year long.

Wow, Neko, you are looking good. Rusty almost made it to the lagoon today. He misses the surfs with his friends.

Have a fine evening. Keep warm!

Blue??? What blue?? Look at that PMPS! So are you enjoying this Artic weather?? We got 3 1/2 inches of snow and now the streets are a sheet of ice! What kind of Hummingbird feeders are you using? I use Hummzingers and you can string Christmas lights over and under them to keep them from freezing overnight. It got down to the teens the past few nights just like it did a few weeks ago, and not that this is attractive but it beats having to worry about hummingbirds starving! BTW, I've seen hummingbirds at that feeder as early as 4:00AM  But on the other hand, you are usually up testing at that hour aren't you?

oh wow. beautiful bird pics.
hi wendy & neko. wendy, i was just wondering how you got the name Neko & what does it mean? thanks.
Nadine & Tibbs

Nadir at PMPS again. Neko wanted out after dinner. Cold and dark and low BGs, I don't think so kitten!

@Anne - back to basic blue, but will she stay there tonight? She's dancing on the edge.

@Ella - I'm sure Rusty will be back in the lagoon soon. Neko went up to look for him. Hummingbirds eat bugs for protein, the sugar water helps them with fat to survive the cold. No many flowers around now.

@Ruth - I have a different style feeder, so the lights wouldn't work for me. Feeder wasn't even slushy tonight so it's warmer out today. We "only" had 1.5 inches of snow. And I may be up at 4:30 this morning.

@Nadine - Neko is Japanese for cat. And the name of a great singer, Neko Case, who used to sing with a Vancouver band.
