ohmygod_smile nailbite_smile ohmygod_smile nailbite_smile ohmygod_smile nailbite_smile ....oh, that AMBG. This is driving me crazy now. I can't help but think we are inching our way closer and closer to going back on the juice - but her pancreas just seem so undecided about it. Yep, she dropped 98 points in 1.5 hours without any insulin...all the work of her scatterbrained pancreas.

To add to the mix, I decided to change our schedule a little bit. My body could no longer take getting up at 5:00am, so now I'm getting up at 6:00am, which means I really only have time to get a "fuds +1.5" test - I don't have time to get a test that is further away from her eating something. At least that will tell me if she's on her way down, but I won't know what her "nadir" is, except on my days off when I can test a little further away from her last fuds. I can't really get a better test in the evenings, either, because I always feed her fairly frequently until I go to bed in order to maximize her calories, so there is never really more than an hour, maybe an hour and a half, between feedings. Anyway, today was the first day of this time change, so - in a way - breffis was an hour later than usual....maybe that had some sort of bearings on this yucky AMBG.

As I said yesterday, argh. I wish I had a clearly defined line about what to do here!

All else is well with Trix....appy happy, eyes bright, ears perky, snuggle overdrive, no excess water consumption or peeing, etc, etc, etc.

Yikes is right but that is a huge drop without insulin. I would be really worried about adding any to the mix. Maybe nonFD kitties do that. What is it called? Pre-dawn effect? She is recovering nicely. As long as she is happy and feeling good, I would just keep on what you are doing. Hang in there. Patience pants intact. Have a great day Amy!

Wow, what a diver, but a clear indication that Mr P is at work. I really do agree with Melissa. Mannie, obviously not a otj kitty, but he was very susceptible to that pre-dawn effect, Amps was always/usually the highest of the day. I agree that she recovers nicely. I'd keep doing what you are doing, hang in there. She's happy, content, doing well, being Trixie. Keep on truckin' little one.

Good luck too with the hours adjustment. I can so relate to the early hours shot time. Mannie's was 4/4:30. It was tough. That gave me just enough time to get a +1.5/2 so I could see what he had planned for the day before heading into work. Anyways - hope the new time works better for you. it is so hard when one has to work.

I did a double take on that ambg. Things are working though with the big drop. I wonder what our BG would look like if we took it that often. I hope the new schedule works for you. Don't most just do spot checks once otj? Have a great day!

Yes, Amy, I'm joining the chorus. Her pancreas is taking charge once the morning gets going. And she's happy, and being Trixie. Who knows what any of our kitty's numbers would have been if we'd been checking them before FD.

Yes, most people only do spot checks when their kitty goes OTJ. I've never been able to bring myself to cut back because Trix's path to OTJ was sudden and not the tapering protocol we follow here - we went from 2.5U to not shooting at all when she had the pancreatitis back in April because she wasn't eating enough to shoot. During that time, she starting throwing OTJ-style numbers, so I just kept going along, but kept up with testing to make sure I catch it right away if she decides she wants to go back on the juice....and that's where we are today That, plus I admit it....she was ON the juice for so long, I have a hard time breaking some of those old habits :roll: :oops: :lol: !

It's good to keep testing and it's always good to have data, Trixie has been unconventional in many ways. No napping, Ms. P!

Holy Molly That's quite the drop for a +1.5 Miss Trixie!! :shock: :lol: I have no advice, but have to say that Trixie's WCR is looking fantastic- clearly, she is thriving under your awesome care! And yeah to your getting another hour of sleep in the AM-you need it and it will all work out! Trixie clearly writes her own book with her own set of rules and it works for her! :-D :-D Sending tons and tons more healing vines for your dad and mom too!! :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Trixie, it's not nice to mess with your mamabean like that! Pretty little girls like you don't need to visit the yellow floor.

I agree with everyone else, Amy. It's obvious her pancreas is on duty, and we really don't know what a "normal" kitty's bg gets up to early in the day. Sounds like she is doing really, really well, so you just need to learn to worry a little less and enjoy it!!! (From one helicopter mom to another).
