off to work... unfortunately i won't be able to monitor his levels all day on this .5dose, but i am sure HE and his ears will be grateful!

I will be able to monitor this evening though

Morning! Looks like you wont have to worry at work today! This weekend assuming you are off, you will be able to monitor him & see where he goes during the day--
By monitoring, it helps to find his nadir, or midpoint of the cycle..I know someone posted the curve chart to you yesterday, so that will give you lots of info--
Try to have a good day & try to relax, Mowgli will be fine! He's happy for no pokes today :lol: Have a good on!

No worries for you today Keri and no pokes for Mowgli. You did a really good job yesterday and got some good info on your kitty. You are doing great.

I already feel like I would not have made it through yesterday and Monday without all your support...
I will hopefully be able to do the same for others some day!

What you're seeing today is a bounce. Mowgli's liver got "surprised" by that green and panicked. It can take up to 72 hours for a bounce to clear.

We link the previous day's condo to our first post each day to keep our condos all together. It is so easy to then click on the link and read what transpired the previous day. Makes sense, right?

We believe that our kitties are a lot more than just their BG numbers. So, we keep an eye out each day for the 5 Ps...
and report on the ones we have noticed for the day. It's a quick way of looking at the Whole Cat..
P=Purring
P=Preening
P=Peeing
P=Pooping
P=Playing

Any reason I wouldn't be able to access janet and binkys page here at work? i mean really, it can't be blocked right?? lol
I was just trying to see some suggestions for a low carb dry food...in the meantime I am off to read about feeding the diabetic cat in a multi cat house...as the other two, even my picky female, have decided that they too enjoy the FF....

also....mowgli was one of those that was losing weight.... he MAYBE eats a can of FF a day right now...think this will level out once we get his sugar under control?

as for the 5 "p"s
He isn't too keen on the purring or the playing right now...lol
he WAS purring, but after yesterday it was the one H....hissing, lol...he is funny when he hisses... but i don't tell him that...

Hopefully that "P" will return tonite...

Innova Evo is the lowest carb dry that I am aware of (8% ?). I think Wellness Core dry is a bit higher.
Donny eats it, though I'd rather he didn't have any. But with 6 other civvies in the house, gotta keep the peace :roll:

Hi Keri! Yes, that's a nice blue number, it looks like Mowgli didn't waste any time clearing that bounce! :smile: Now, you don't know if that number is rising or dropping, so I would get a +2 so you can see which way he's heading. I"m a big fan of +2 numbers!

an if the +4 is decent we can *maybe* spare his ears tonite? he so not happy :sad: ..... but other than hating that he IS starting to be more like him.... ;-)

Keri, I was going to ask how the testing was going. I would just see what his number looks like at +4 and go from there, ok? Are you giving him treats? I know it's hard in the beginning, but he will get used to it...Tinkles wasn't thrilled either, but now he actually purrs the whole time...even when I have to test him every hour or half hour!

Be firm but gentle...don't give him a choice, but make sure he gets rewarded for accepting the testing...it WILL get easier.

the funny thing is, it WAS going REALLY well! and last night he started making a fuss about it...he will let me but hisses his displeasure....maybe its because he is feeling a little bit better lol....however they are pretty bruised :sad: , my bad I am sure...he gets treats fersure, and I assume he will start to get better with it again.... I will be firm/gentle and ensure it is done, I am aware of the importance of the numbers..... do the ears "toughen" up over time? lol

The ears actually bleed easier over time. Treats, praise, scratches, hugs, etc. all make the testing easier.

Yes, he can have a snack whenever you would like, Keri. It's just good to know when you give it so you can see how it affects his numbers. Personally, I feed most of Tinkles' food early in the cycle, over the first 4 hours, in mini-meals. The smaller frequent meals keep the BG more even. Then I give him a small snack (1 tsp) at +6 and +8, then nothing until the next PS.
 
I gave him a snack AFTER the BG, not before...
I think that is the right thing to do right? too close will affect the numbers?
 
ideally should I get up and get a +6?
just wondering cause I am off to slumber now....
well shortly.... 4am comes early lol (early early day tomorrow)
 
That's ok, if you gave it before we would just take that into account, but after is good. His numbers look very good tonight!

If you want to set the alarm and get a +6, that's up to you...I'm not going to say that you NEED to do that...I'll leave that up to you. His numbers look safe to me. If you're worried, just leave some food out for him.

I would like to leave food out but i dunno what the other two piggly wigglys will do... lol
I may just get up at midnite, lol
~meh~ sleep is just a time killer anyway right?? lol
