Morning - wet, dreary and dark here, would have loved to stay in bed but got up to feed in the night and never could get back to sleep.

Shadow is feeling lazy this morning, she kept me company last night when I was up roaming the house. This morning she just wants to sleep. And eat. :-D I'm going to load her automat today with FD chicken and tuna and see if that will help her "get it." I know Barbie will be able to figure it out but Barbie doesn't need any extra food. 3/5 P's for Shadow this morning, no preening or playing, but that is pretty normal for her.

I have the afternoon shift today so I'll be in and out as work allows. Have a good day.

great amps Shadow and concerning the feeder I decided to start having his meals in the white trays all the time that way he would get used to just eating from it since I bought 2 of the catmate20 the 2 compartment ones thinking I would use 2 :lol: :lol: in case we were gone a long time but he is just now starting to eat from the this on his own so far we have done it one time :smile: and it should be open now wonder if he ate this time HMMM it would frustrate me so much Kim since if we were going to be gone he would need to use it and I would come home to the food just sitting there untouched so that is why I thought well if he ate from it enough all the time he would associate it with his meals :roll: or so this was my plan and it seems to be working I had later bought the 5 compartment one that rotates but he will not get near that with his blindness he must think its a giant alien on the bed or something you see Do Lou eats on my bed yeah he is spoiled what automat do you have?

Kim, I know it's frustrating, Tinkles is eating out of the automat during the day...if he hears it. My piggie civvie caught on really quick though, she often gets there before him! At night, I still have to wake him up and point the food out to him. :roll: I hope Shadow gets it soon!

Nice numbers, beautiful SS...I always love to visit, such a pretty sea of greens and blues... :-D What a great job you're doing with Shadow!

boy I sure hate to be leaving for work on a 65 at +2. leaving some MC in the feeder and some bowls of it out in case she doesnt' find the feeder. Soonest I can get back here to check on her will be +6. ;(


eta: wow, I must be living right - they just called and cancelled me for work this afternoon, a lot of our patients are older and they don't like to get out in rainy weather, so, enough cancellations that I don't have to go in. stinks for my paycheck but makes me feel so much better about the big kitty-girl. happy day, happy day. I had just cracked open the 12%, so I'm going to experiment with the automat this afternoon

Hey Kim..I started the auto feeder w/Curry the other day.

In the morning I put a food bowl in the feeder for her 1st meal....30 min. later - FD chick.....30 minutes 2nd brkfast...30 minutes FD -ck and last time is another then 30 minutes with her last meal. I still have to point the food out to her....its actually in the living room right beside her.

Then I do the exact same thing for the evening....I figure after about a week of this w/me cheerleading, Curry might start going to the feeder. She hears the sound but won't go to the feeder just yet.

This means that I change the time on the feeder in the morning and evening.......But I just change AM and PM and leave the same times...

So are they being stubborn? Geoff thinks we have to make her think it's her idea or she won't go for it. I put a few crumbles of FD chix in every pocket and set it turn every 30 minutes and it is sitting right next to her in a sunny spot. I'm going to do your deal for supper and MM this evening. Just now, I have closed the door to the master bathroom so none of the civvies can beat her to it. I have one really smart one, Barbie, and she is the one that has been conditioned to come when I say test, cause she gets a snack at the same time or else she steals SHadow's. I'm trying to hold treats and pokers and meters and keep her away while I test SHadow, it's a 3 ring circus. That's how come she gets a treat now everytime SHadow is tested. She's Houdini - I don't have a door or a cabinet she can't figure out how to get into. She'd be the one to figure out that feeder in a NY minute. Shadow has to learn this by November 30th.

no help with the feeder here, kim... around our place, i'm the brats auto-feeder so far.

But SWEET on the cancelled workday! now, if shadow brings it up a little...you can try for an afternoon nap.
(of course, if you are like most nurses i know...sleep is a hard to come by commodity for you. I think it's because nurses wear themselves out giving to others...and then continue to worry about their patients after work)

Reconnaissance report - back from master bathroom, the most recent two chambers of the automat are empty. dancing_cat only chicken dust, it turns every 30 minutes. took a kitty box back there so she'll get comfortable back there. it's a big enough bathroom for one little kitty. If she can settle into that area and not be stressed when the door is closed, I can leave her back there with the feeder. If she's isolated from the civvies raiding that thing, it's gonna give her a better shot at figuring this out.

Hi Kim -

Thanks for dropping by our condo today! Those are some beautiful numbers for Shadow! I have one of the feeders too, but I didn't have any trouble getting Emma to eat out of it. She's also an only kitty, and I have it where the dogs can't get at it (on the top step to the basement, and she has a kitty door to get there). It did take her a while to figure out the snack later on, but I think she's got it now. I purposely fed her less than usual at her regular meal time to make sure she was hungry at snack time. I think that helped, and now she hears it turn and gets her snack almost every night.

I was reading Shadow's profile - she sounds a lot like Emma! She's 15, kinda cranky, has a history or UTIs, and was on that Royal Canin SO for a LONG time after she had crystals and stones. I'm so glad she's not eating that anymore - I was reading somewhere a few years ago that whatever it does to their bodies damages the kidneys. Now she eats wellness and evo, and loves it!

YAY! feeder success!!!! That is great. and a room for herself: nice. I hope it all works for you - getting her trained and all. I will tell Mannie to give Shadow a call and explain to whole thing.... :lol:

oh - an in answer to your question last night: yes, first grandbaby, and yes she about 20 miles from me, and due 1/4. It is such an exciting time! It is so nice that they are close - it will make helping when she needs it so much easier. can't wait!!!

:lol: :lol: Didn't lose my TX accent, girl...never had one :lol: I was born in Ft Worth and my mom's family is from that area but my dad was in the Air Force
so I wasn't raised there. Dad retired and we went back to TX my senior yr of high school and then I went to TCU for bachelor's/master's degrees and then left.
I never had the chance to get that twwwannnngggg but most of my family has it...I'm a renegade :lol: :lol: :lol:

Hope ya'll get a good night's sleep!!! I do still use that pronoun!
