Yesterday's Condo

My sweet, cooperative little Cinco is surfing low yellow today. Much as I'd rather see blues and/or greens, I do appreciate the permission slip as I had an appointment for an oil change and to get a recall addressed at the dealer. I'm really glad I was able to keep it!

Sasha only ate about 1/4 of her breakfast, despite a liberal sprinkling of kitty crack, and since I was short on time I broke out the baby food. She happily ate half the jar! I really hope I can get her back to eating cat food all the time by Wednesday night, or the cat sitter will have to close her in a room by herself while she's at work - if she leaves a bowl of baby food out for Sasha to eat at her leisure, Harvey Hoover will be in and clean it right up! He has very good radar for baby food. He just about breaks the door down, trying to get in when I'm feeding it to Sasha.

I get to be BIC tonight and give Cinco his PM shot, as Mark had to work in Sacramento today and didn't think he'd have time to come home, t/f/s, and drive back for bowling. So I'll do the shot and drive myself in and meet him at the alley - assuming Cinco is still feeling cooperative! I have gotten a lot more comfortable with giving the shot myself, especially since I got some terumo syringes. Mark doesn't like them, but I do - much easier for my poor fingers to manipulate. If I have time tonight, I may try using the digital calipers for the first time. I have to read the primer on them, first. I may have time, sitting here waiting for my car, but I'll visit condos first!

Sending healing vines to all in need, and hugs to all their beans. Prayers continue for Amy's DF, Lyresa's DF, Lisa's DF and Elise's DM.

Good Golly what a dive for Cinco yesterday!!! It always amazes me just how flat he stays after one of these cliff dives too- he is typically in yellow at his highest, you're so lucky! I shouldn't be laughing at the thought of Harvey Hoover knocking down the door to get Sasha's baby food, but the visual is quite amusing! Sending tons of vines for her appetite to get back to normal for her regular foods! Have fun at bowling tonight! :-D :-D

Re: 11/3 Cinco AMPS 224 +3.5 207

How about a nice slow slide down to blue for tonight Cinco?

What syringes is Mark using? Do they have the same barrel width as the Terumo's. Just wondering if the amount of insulin is the same between the two brands. I know people have noticed a difference before when switching from one brand to another. I do like the calipers. Especially with two of us loading and shooting. I just tell DH to shoot what the calipers are set to.

Sending some cat fuds appy vines for Sasha. What a princess.

You wouldn't want this FD dance to get to be routine, would you?  Sending more appy vines for Sasha. Good luck with tonight's shot and have fun at bowling.

Re: 11/3 Cinco AMPS 224 +3.5 207

Thanks for visiting, Ruth and Wendy.

Ruth, I do actually worry about Harvey getting the door open when Sasha is in the guest room. It's a little warped and you have to be very sure it's latched completely. Harvey is really, really, really crazy about baby food and just loses his mind when he smells it.

Wendy, Mark is using the Walmart Reli-on syringes. They are the same size. I have not compared them, but I guess I should. Perhaps when I get the hang of the digital calipers, we'll find out how close they are.

I'm glad Cinco let you keep your car appointment. Good luck with his shot tonight. I hope Sasha will get back to eating just cat food soon.

Re: 11/3 Cinco AMPS 224 +3.5 207

Wow....that really was quite a dive for Cinco yesterday! I'm glad he let you get your car taken care of today, and hopefully he'll let you go bowling tonight, too!

Sasha...it's good your eating, but eat more CAT fuds, OK? Have you tried "enhancing" her cat food with a nice layer of baby food on top - sort of like gravy? Maybe that would get her going again with her own kitty fuds.

I hope you have a great evening at the alley tonight!!!

Re: 11/3 Cinco AMPS 224 +3.5 207

Looks like they both decided to dive together...and bounce together too!

Just wish China would have taken it a little slower today when she broke her bounce...just set herself up to bounce again tonight!

You might want to consider picking one syringe to use...from what I understand, Marje tested the different kinds and found that different brands could be as much as .5 unit difference....so if Mark is using the Relion and you're using the Terurmo, if there's that much difference, one of you could be giving 1 unit and the other giving .5u....or 1.5u

Have you tried mixing some of the baby food into the cat food to see if it would tempt Sasha to eat it?

Hope Cinco gives you a permission slip to go bowling tonight!

Re: 11/3 Cinco AMPS 224 +3.5 207

Tricia, I actually had one cat, my tuxedo Junior, who could open doors too! He would jump and hit the horizontal handles on the doors, he did not like closed doors at all, it was funny. But no, you don't want Harvey stealing Sasha's food!

Re: 11/3 Cinco AMPS 224 +3.5 207

Hi Tricia,

I think you and Mark should definitely be using the same brand of syringe. You can't tell just by looking at the syringes. It's the inside of the barrel that counts. When you start using the calipers use them only on one brand, not both. There could be a big difference depending on what you are measuring from. So set your calipers to one brand and keep them there. One thing you will discover is that the lines on all brands of syringe are often quite inaccurate. That's where the calipers come in. With the Terumo you measure from the clear plastic disc, not from the "zero" line on the syringe. The disc and the zero line are supposed to be the same, but they rarely are!

I hope Sasha starts eating her kitty food and that Cinco gets into a good numbers groove.

Have a good bowling session tonight,

Ella & Rusty

Thanks for stopping by, Carla, Amy, Chris, Ruth and Ella.

Cinco seems to have surfed yellow through both cycles today. :YMSIGH: Deja vu. Maybe when we get back from Phoenix he'll need a dosecrease.

I have tried topping the cat food off with baby food - she just licks off the baby food and leaves the cat food! That trick works with Cinco, but Sasha's a little more clever, I guess. I ended up giving her an Ondansetron tonight. She only ate about 1/4 of her dinner of cat food, and only a few teaspoons of baby food. She was doing a lot of lip smacking, so I went ahead with the pill. I'll try to give her a little more baby food before I go to bed.

Chris and Ella, the problem with the syringes is that Mark just doesn't like using the Terumo - he says they move too easily and he ends up pushing out the insulin before he's ready. I have trouble with the Relion because they are so hard to push - the Terumos work better for me! Darn! And here I was so proud of myself for figuring out the calipers - the amount I measured for the Terumo matched where the lines were on the Relion that Mark uses. On each of the syringes I looked at, the "zero" line was flush with the plastic ring Ella and Marje mentioned. Now what do I do? I should add that I don't do the shooting often - maybe a couple of times a month. Mark is really the main needle man.

Ruth, my GA Civvie, Max, could open doors with handles. We discovered it in England when we got new furniture in the living room and I didn't want the cats in there without supervision. Mark would go in there in the morning to put his boots on before going to work. I would come down later and find the door open. Then I would yell at Mark! He assured me he was closing the door. Then one day I saw Max get up on the second step (the stairs came down right next to the door), stand up on his hind legs, and reach up and yank on the handle - viola! open door! I had to apologize to Mark! We ended up putting a locking handle on that door.

Hi again,
I used to think that the Terumos had a "hair trigger", too, but I got used to them and now would never want to switch.

Hope you had a good bowling evening,

Ella

Sorry I keep missing your condo. Cinco is doing great!

Tell Mark that with the Terumos just always hold the barrel, even when sticking it in and don't touch the plunger until he has it in place. Think of it like holding a cigarette European style. I always check with my magnifier just before sticking it in to make sure I haven't bumped it too.
