Happy Caturday everyone. Ivy is cruising along and we are thinking about the upcoming lab work we will have done on Tuesday this coming week to check her T4 levels now that she’s taking Methimazole pills. Hoping for improved numbers.
I really need to cut her nails before this visit and her new hang out spot is my closet under the clothes 😫

She’s so happy I hate to disturb her. So that’s my challenge this weekend.

I know it's a typo but I'm just laughing at the idea of Ivy "cursing" along just muttering about pokes and claw trims as she wanders from one comfy spot to another. 😂

That seems like the perfect hiding spot pre-claw trim when she can still use them to hold into the clothes and avoid being pulled out! lol 😩

Best of luck with the trim! I was just thinking yesterday that I wish I could trim Xander's but that's one of those things that I can't anticipate ever being possible without the vet. 😒

Crossing my fingers and Xander's paws for much improved T4 results!!

Ah, someone else who needs a vet's help for claw trimming. I'm getting the sense that Xander and Gen have some personality stuff in common ...
 
I know, it's been long enough with this checking and waiting and checking and waiting! You need a break already!

He's seeming to do okay, actually! I should make an actual post today lol I really hope things continue to improve.

Very much hoping for and planning on a boring, homebody weekend! I hope yours and Ivy's is too. 😊🥰💙

Actually I would too, you’re right.
I think you’re right about Xander and Gen, I think they are similar.
And I know you wouldn’t won’t believe me right now, but Ivy fits into that group too.
She’s incredibly difficult to manage and I am the soul caregiver.
I apply the Libres all on my own and do all of the shots and medications.

She will tolerate my husband holding her in place if I really need him to (so sometimes just a roommates hands to hold Gen in place may help).

Sometimes she’s completely out of sorts, maybe a few times a year, and I just need him to put hands on her to hold her steady while I do whatever is needed, but it’s very, very rare.
I have to give her large doses of gabapentin the night before and several hours before I take her to the vet because she is completely fractious at the vet.
I actually don’t think the gabapentin does anything to calm her down, but I give it anyway.
So, all that to say, I never in 1 million years imagined I would be able to apply a Libre by myself to Ivy. And I really didn’t think I would even be able to give Insulin Shots twice a day, and yet three years into it here, I am doing all of those things by myself so, don’t lose hope because you just never know, Gen may surprise you🙏🙏

The funny thing is, Gen's a sweetheart at the vet. Everyone always loves him. The ER vets made up silly nicknames for him. The gabapentin would be for the car ride; he's less of a fan of cars than I am (and I'm a dedicated city cyclist), though recently he seems to be getting resigned. On the othe rhand, once he stress-peed so much in his carrier that I had to sit in the vet's waiting room for 45 minutes with soaking wet jeans.

(Honestly both my roommates are also kind of weird and squeamish and I suspect I won't be able to get them to help, but maybe I have a friend who can on an individual basis. I'll have to see.)

Good luck with the nail trimming… I’ll picture Ivy cursing now through the whole thing and really makes me laugh. You’re so good Staci! Her acceptance of allowing you to put Libres and poke her with needles makes me think she knows your love and that you are really there to help. You’ve got a great bond ❤️‍🩹

I agree, I think all of our babies are similar. I think Gen and Ivy may be more similar in their spiciness (Xander only ever wants to get away and is terrified, no swatting or biting, etc) but it seems like we have a lot of the same exact experiences.
 
Haha I'm sorry but now I also can't help but imagine Ivy cursing like a sailor while getting her nails done or getting her Libre applied. She's so cute and fluffy it's hard to imagine she's so feisty. I love how this week her spot of choice is your closet. It's like I told you it probably smells like you so she likes to hang out in there.
Good look with the moewnicure 💅 later today. Hopefully it goes smoothly. And we'll be thinking about you, Ivy and your upcoming vet visit on tuesday. I know it's always so stressful for you.

Well you won’t know unless you ask the roommates. And they’re most likely close by if needed in a pinch.
(I’ve replaced sensors at midnight 😭)

But if you have a friend who could come over, that’s awesome.
It’s not much you’d need from them, just to gently hold Gen so you have hands free to work.
Don’t forget to breathe and have all supplies laid out carefully in advance 💖

So funny, her cursing. That’s pretty much a solid bet. I’m sure if she could talk she would curse me and especially the vet techs!!
But I know she loves me, despite all the poking.

My attempt at a nail trim failed as she was in her basement condo and I prefer her on the pink chair in my room (better angle).
She screamed and got some bites in.
And then I tried to pick her up and hold her it to cut her nails and then she peed on me.
Figured it was time to stop after the pee 😭😭😭
Guess we’ll try again tomorrow!! 🤯
