Good morning!

Yesterday: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=129100

Our boy had a great day yesterday, so of course Mr. Liver is freaking out and he's bouncing now. I'm shooting on an 18 hour schedule today, because I'm going to our family Thanksgiving dinner this afternoon. Unfortunately, it will not involve mac 'n cheese.

Thanks to everyone who helped last night! I hope everyone will have a great day today.

I cannot stop laughing! After feeding and shooting at noon and testing and feeding at +2, I carefully set up the timed feeder for its first trial run. I put kitty crack in it, then ice underneath the tray. Off we went for a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner (despite the lack of mac 'n cheese). We stayed later than expected and had a blast. All the way home we wondered how we would tell for sure who ate the food. Our best guess was that DK wouldn't touch it, because he's not a fan of turkey. I walked in the door first, and lo and behold, the feeder had popped open perfectly, but was full of dried up untouched food!!! I guess we know who ate it!   I sure wish the thing made noise, so I could train Mikey to know there was food available.

Meanwhile, he's still bouncing tonight. That with the odd schedule means I'm going to bed early! Yay for a full night's sleep.

Coming down slow and steady, that's the way to do it Mikey. I hope you had a great Thanksgiving dinner today Mary. Sleep well.

Thanks, Wendy. Any suggestions on how to get him to wake up and eat when the feeder opens? I wonder if I'm going to have to confine him with it for a day or two when I go back to work next week. I don't really want to do that for more than a day, though, because it's not good for him or for DK for them to be separated. Hmm, maybe I could shut them both in there. But then I don't know if DK would eat the food...

I used to have the QPet 4 feeder. It had the option to record something to be played back when the feeder rotated. It also made a longer/louder noise than the Petsafe 5. I originally recorded me calling Neko, but she quickly latched on so I just went back to silence. I know someone else who recorded their phone alarm sound, cause that's what they used to signal test time. However, I was never very fond of the Qpet. Programming it was a pain. The idea of maybe confining Mikey to a room with the feeder so he gets what happens when the noise goes off might work. Neko knows Otto (feeder) on the floor means food and barely leaves it's side.

Hm, maybe I'll try that tomorrow. I have to go out at +2, but Don will be home, so DK would have company. He can check in on Mikey too, although Mikey will probably fall asleep. Could be an interesting experiment.
