Kim, I use the ReliOn Prime meter and test strips are so much less than what you are spending. Like Gina said. If you can get your hands on the meter (I don't want to give mine up, yet), and your relatives can make a little extra drive south when they are in Daytona, I will give them my 300 test strips. They are good until next year. I think the first expiration date is in July. I also have a ton of lancets but I don't know if you use those. I have some UltiCare PetRX U-100 syringes, too, but I don't know what you are using. Anyway, I haven't wanted to part with all this stuff but I guess I should. I just don't want to pay for shipping. I also have 4 and 1/2 pens of Semglee insulin but that would have to be kept cold the entire time. You can have this stuff if you want it and can make arrangements to have someone get it.

Wow… really, so you’re telling me that those prices I saw were not in CAD … yikes. I thought since they were so high, that’s what I was looking at!

Aww. Summer, you are so very sweet! :bighug:

I wish we had ReliOn in Canada. Unfortunately, we do not. I appreciate your kind offer but there are a few things that would make that not work so well. Canada measures in mmol so the meter readings would be different (although I could just do the conversion myself) but also once I ran out of the strips I’d have to find a way to get more.

Again, I appreciate your offer so very much… Even though they are expensive.. and I am trying to save some money (I’m always trying to cut cost where I can)… I can make due. Maybe you can put them in supply closet and perhaps someone that needs help financially with supplies can have them. Or maybe DCIN might be able to make use of them.

Kim, do you have a Walmart near you? If so, have you considered using their brand of meter? I use the ReliOn Premier Compact. In US dollars was around $20 for the meter and the strips are under $18 for 100.

Have many Walmart’s around but Canadian Walmart’s don’t sell the ReliOn :( I wish…

I know about the supply closet but, as I said, I don't know if I want to pay for shipping. I have tried finding someone locally that needs this stuff and have been unsuccessful. Something inside me tells me not to let go of these supplies. I hope it is not a premonition that my new kitty, Boo, is going to need it.

Oh. I did not know that shipping would be part of the supply closet offering…

I do hope you’re wrong on you premonitions .. and I hope that Boo has a clean bill of health. All you can do is feed them low carb meals/treats and apply your knowledge of what you’ve learned through this whole diabetes process and hope that genetics doesn’t have their way. Boo is in great hands no matter what!

Don’t think I actually thanked you for looking into the different prices and locations for the strips!! Thank you for taking some time to look for us!

I have read posts here saying that strips can often be found for cheap on (Canadian) Ebay. The other option is the Bravo Meter which is only $40 for 100 strips. The meter is free. The can only be bought online (https://diabetesexpress.ca/) and they seem to be out of stock right now.

Just checked eBay! Definitely cheaper. About $50 CAD vs $75 with shipping. Thx!

I’ve been thinking about the bravo but I do like the freestyle lite meter itself plus sample size, though he is a good bleeder now. Not a fan of relying on orders/shipping either but if I must for cost reasons it’s a good option
