Just a quick update: No recent numbers, but I know they are all good. No ketones.

Convinced owner to make the long drive to town to see the vet, and the vet agrees that it is most likely pancreatitis. Sent blood off to confirm, but results can take up to 2 weeks, and so the plan is to treat as if it were. (Makes sense - sudden increase in BGs, followed by inappetance, then vomiting and now diarrhea.)

Antinauseant working - she is eating small amounts and keeping them down. Getting a/bs. Getting SubQs. Getting Pepcid AC. Already looks and acts much better.

One unusual finding : leukopenia (low white blood count). No idea what is causing that... will have it investigated later.

Thanks for the update. Whether it is or isn't p'titis, I'm glad that Grace is feelig better. Do you know if the vet provided any pain meds?

I'm glad they went to the vet and stocked up on supplies. Treating it as pancreatitis is what I would insist on doing too, if she was my cat.

Good question about pain meds. I'm glad she is feeling better, but it wouldn't hurt to have those on hand for the winter too.

They spoke about pain meds, but she didn't get any - may have been just an oversight. I have asked her to get some today before she makes the drive back home. (She and Grace stayed in a hotel overnight because the vet wanted to see her again this morning before giving the OK to go home.)

I did visit them last night and pilled Miss Grace and got her to eat. When I left, she was sprawled on top of the bed, purring and looking happy. When I arrived, she was hiding under the bed! :-D

I'm so glad Grace is feeling better, and I am so glad you are there to help out your friend. You're an angel.
