I didn't pick up his food so this might be a food spike. 5AM move to the living room love seat is killing me. Its so uncomfortable.

I am taking my dog to the vet this morning so I will be gone about three or four hours (from 8:30 to 12:00). My husband will be home until noon. I am going to do a +1 before I go and ask him to do a +3. He did the test once and his ear still has a big puncture mark. He totally stabbed him with the lance - not just a soft prick. So this makes me cringe a bit.

I have another problem. The iphone alarm sound that I've chosen (crystal drops) is playing in my head. I hear a phantom alarm now. I'm going to have to change the alarm sound. This was the softest one on the app to prevent heart attacks when woken from a deep sleep.

I'll check in on condo's when I'm back. Happy Saturday gang.

Re: 11/27 Maverick AMPS 110

Pretty good number for a food spike though.

Hope Nike is OK. Careful driving.

Curry moves her head every time I test and sometimes it goes a bit deeper than I would like.....If your DH does the poke at a 45 degree angle...there is less likelihood for an ear piercing. Glad his is able to help out w/Maverick.

Have good day.

Re: 11/27 Maverick AMPS 110

Re: 11/27 Maverick AMPS 110

Nice amps, even with a food spike. SWEET! It is nice that DH can help with Maverick, hopefully in time he will be better at it. :-D Looks like greens today for Maverick.

Good luck with the vet appt today for the drooler. I hope all is well there. :-D

Re: 11/27 Maverick AMPS 110

Very nice amps for Maverick today, Karrie!!! Even if it is a food spike   Be safe and hope you get some good news for Nike.

Re: 11/27 Maverick AMPS 110

Driving there was a nail biter. First time driving in snow and wind for the season for me. I have to get snow tires soon. We had a great vet appointment. They are all so amazing there, I wish we could find a closer vet for Maverick like them. Her lungs sound clear too which was good to hear.

Maverick though didn't get tested until +5.5 and its 94. I expected when I saw he hadn't eaten a thing this morning at all that his number would be a whole lot lower than 94. Some days his numbers just make no sense at all. I have to check out Rockets Condo. Have to get the dog medication done and fish fed and I'll be back to check in.

Thanks guys!!!! We did get Maverick some Revolution since we found the two fleas on "the drooler" LMAO I love that term. And the mouse living in the basement couch *EEEK* is probably the source. No mouse in the humane trap yet.

Re: 11/27 Maverick PMPS 74 - help figuring out Nadir

Can someone look at our spreadsheet and help me figure out his nadir. Short of testing every hour for three days in a row it doesn't seem to follow any of the testing that is done on a frequent test day. Its like its random - or at least when I have a day when I don't test a lot - it seems random. Take today. Why is his PMPS reading below the +5.5 reading. Can you guys advise on what I'm doing wrong? I know the nadir moves but daily? And he didn't eat at all before the +5.5 but ate three ounces int the time between then and +12 so wouldn't the number be higher? I'm really getting confused. The data doesn't really mean much for him it seems.

Thank you!!!!

Re: 11/27 Maverick PMPS 74 - help figuring out Nadir

I think his nadir was normal at between +5.5 and +6 and now seems to have moved a bit, but still seems to be between +4 and +6. I think the 74 tonight was just a double dip, which Lantus is famous for. That's just my opinion. Others may see something different.

I'm glad you're using a humane mouse trap. I saw those, amongst the poisons and the glue traps and I thought what a good idea. I caught one poor mouse that Ginger caught outside and brought inside the house to me, and let him/her go outside.
The 2nd mouse she let in, I never did trap or find  It's nice to know there are others like me.

Re: 11/27 Maverick PMPS 74 - help figuring out Nadir

Okay I'll read about double dipping - thank you for taking a look.

I love animals. The mouse will get rehomed and a big supply of seeds to make sure his transition away from our home is a good one.

I used to volunteer for a wildlife sanctuary - at the centre as incare assistant and at home fostering. I've fostered a lot of orphaned squirrels (red and grey), groundhogs/woodchucks. We think fostering in the home was one of the reasons why Maverick went off food in 2008 and got FHL. Stress. The groundhog babies were in the room next to his food room and their whistling I think stressed him out. So I haven't volunteered since. We still have some of our fosters come to the back door for their peanuts.

Trying to resize a picture. One of our very first foster releases - Grey Girl letting us know she was there for peanuts by jumping up on the screen door.

There are always peanuts in my pockets for the squirrels. :-D

Re: 11/27 Maverick PMPS 74 - help figuring out Nadir

Looks like Maverick and Curry had similar PMPS...curry was 76.

That's neat that you volunteered at the centre.....Ok, I'm a city girl....I didn't know that groundhogs whistled....Man, learn something new everyday. You have a good heart Karrie.

I'm an animal lover too....except for the humongous flying tree roach that came into my apartment the other day...did I mention FLYING....Good Golly...Scared the #$%@^& out of me when it flew toward me......swatted that sucker dead. Curry and Sidney usually help...but they just watched and laughed. I remember when I was little watching my mom chase one of those tree roaches w/a vacuum. Yes, a vacuum. THAT was funny.
