After feeling very sorry for myself after Mandarin's failed OTJ trial yesterday, I am in a better place this morning.

LagoonMeisterin China would be very happy to have a deputy like Mandarin!!

She can sympathize with you too....She went OTJ for only about a month (after over 4 years of treatment) so she understands how disappointing it can be to be so close, yet so far!

But in all reality, as long as our kitties are feeling good and doing well, it really doesn't matter if they're OTJ or still needing insulin. Their good health is all that matters!!

@Chris & China I could not have said it better myself. I am sure that Mandarin doesn't care at all if he gets a shot twice a day.... actually, quite to the contrary, I think he secretly enjoys the extra attention. His pancreas might be a bit upset though about the insulin - he has a serious case of NDW and made it all the way into yellow last night.

Walter is continuing to do well and holding steady in blue and greens.

Unfortunately, Emma (the little senior dog that I am fostering) has to go see the vetty bean today. I discovered a nasty looking lump on her yesterday and since it is right by her rectum, she needs to get it checked out. I am really hoping that it's "just" an infected anal gland.

It's hard when they come back out of remission, but them doing well overall is what is important. I'm glad Mandarin is doing well. I think they do love the extra attention they get from testing. Nice start for Walter.

I hope it's nothing serious with Emma. Sending prayers.

When Boomer last went into remission he would jump up on his testing table and, when we didn't respond with either a test or shot, look at us like we had forgotten about him. Like that would ever happen
Sending vetty vines for Emma!

Great cycles for both of my boys! Looks like Mandarin is willing to work the juice after all. Unfortunately, the news wasn't so great for Emma. It is indeed a mass and it is in such a bad spot that it will start to create problems if it gets bigger. So despite her failing liver, she will have surgery next Friday. I am already nervous for her.

Dear sweet Emma - I'm pulling for her
well, you might feel sorry for Mandarin, but I'd do anything for Murphy's SS to look like either of your boys
Did you get much snow yesterday?

Well, you can add Bubba to the "Disappointment Club" . He and his bean know all too well about being so close and then BAM. He has been OTJ 3 times with the longest tour only being 6 months and the other 2 were about 6 weeks. Then this last rodeo, I got him all the way down to 1 drop! And then he decided to need more insulin and then more insulin .........

It is what it is......... Just keep plugging away. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Very true - it's not like Mandarin is the first cat that this has ever happened to. It just makes it so much harder when they get so close... for Walter, I never thought he would get off the juice and it's much easier to be excited about good numbers.

And both boys certainly had a great cycle. Not sure what else Mandarin has planned for tonight, but with that 63, I am glad that I started him on 0.1u.

Yes! .10 was probably all he needed. Keep on keeping on!

ETA I mean 0.1 not .10

PS. Lots of vines for Emma! Hope it's an easy fix! With an anal gland issues they will start over grooming the anal area as a "tip off " to us beans. If not that, maybe a boil? Keeping easy fix vines for your sweet girl.

Ugh I just saw the above post about Emma.surounding her in light!

Sending tons of vines for Emma's surgery. I hope the mass can be removed without complications.

Mandarin and Walter are looking GREAT! OTJ isn't as important as feeling good and being well regulated OnTJ.

Hugs and scritches, and pats for Emma.
