Morning
very exciting night with Maggie earning a doscrease. I got sticker shock when I tested her at +3 and she was 58 on the AT and 68 on the Relion. I'm not sure why the Relion tested higher! She started eating fast, so I knew she was probably dropping. I didn't even feel as though I got two drops in her pm dose, as I skinnied up the drops with her 120 preshot. Maggie wasn't eating as much yesterday, as she had one vomit. My hands started shaking when I went to test a second time, and hard as I tried, I could not get a second test for what seemed like ten minutes. Her ear was cold, so I warmed, and finally got a drop, and she tested 73 on the AT and 78 on the Relion, not much difference. I wasted about six AT strips as she would move and also I was not getting a good drop. Twenty minutes later she tested 67 on the AT and 49 on the Relion Micro after a snack of FF T & G, which acts as a hc. The reason I used two meters was to make sure the AT was correct with such a low reading. I'm normally a calm, collected person, but I think I was so nervous as I had another ot incident happen yesterday which stressed me out, and Mags sensed my anxiety when I was poking and not getting a drop. What a sweetie, as she still had so much patience with me. I just ordered strips and syringes yesterday from ADW, so they should be here in no time.
Another 30 minutes later, and she tested at 93, whew! Maggie had 3/4 can of the FF Turkey & Giblets total overnight to bring her up to normal range, so I expected a bounce, but 167 is not bad at all. Last night I was hoping someone would stop by and visit us, as there was hardly anyone online at first. There is usually never any excitement with Maggie's condo, as she's a surfer girl, no bounces or dives ever, except her last dental. I don't know why I was feeling so alone and anxious, combination of things I guess. Thanks so much Celi for the cute, adorable pic which lightened things up, and thanks Ella, Georgia, Amy and Michelle. I knew what to do and since Mags is extremely carb sensitive, I knew she would be okay, but just some support always helps even though I'm an old timer. So thank you and please excuse my basket case behavior. This wasn't even hypo numbers, but she has never dropped below a 60 before! If you're able to get thru this long condo, thanks for reading, and I'll be calmer next time.
Positive thoughts and prayers for Jill and DH and for all kitties with medical issues and their Beans.
