Yesterday's morning cycle is one of the best we've had since Luna has been home. Started at 159, had the usual morning BG food spike, and then got down to 115 at +9. Then Luna being Luna, jumped over 250 points at PMPS and then was "HI" for the rest of the night and into this morning. She smelled a little bit like insulin, but we saw the needle go in, there was no wet spot, and she stopped eating to look back at us when it was happening. She was squatting in front of her bowl when we gave the injection, so maybe it wasn't the best position or the needle went through and out the other end. It was similar to last time she spent a cycle HI. Anyone following Luna knows she's prone to bouncing, and could get into the the 400s after a day of blue and green on .5U, so this could just be a bounce multiplied by the already higher numbers(?).
This morning and moving forward until she's getting better numbers, we're tag-teaming injection time and putting her on the table wrapped up in a blanket. She doesn't seem to mind and we can take our time to make sure we're 100% certain the injection was done correctly. We never had this problem before, I'm not sure what's going on now other than a different injection site. Since she was so skinny when we brought her home, the vet techs told us to grab skin wherever we can. She had a feeding tube, so scruff was out. Also, when the did imaging, they saw scar tissue along the scruff, so they wanted us to move around more. We've been more towards the back right above the leg. I saw a diagram about injection sites, and I think we're a little behind the flank, more upper leg I guess? But we finally got a real number, so again, I'm confused and don't really know what's going on.
We have a water fountain coming tomorrow. She's drinking from her bowl more often since we've been getting high numbers. We want to make sure she gets enough water, and since a UTI may have set this all off, encouraging more drinking can't hurt.
