Hi everybody - haven't been herein a while. Hope everybody's doing well. Elian is doing great - he gave me a gorgeous 60 this morning! Woo hoo! Just placed my order for calendars tonight - can't wait to see it and more importantly - share! One is definitely going to my vet's office.

Speaking of my vet - she just referred a diabetic kitty to me today for 12 days of pet sitting! That makes 2 new diabetic kitties in my care now. So I am so happy to report that I am able to "pay it forward" and try to help these kitties as Elian has been helped. Both families are open to making necessary changes. One of the cats is morbidly obese and the other used to be overweight but is now emaciated. It saddens me that both families have been treating their cats for 2 years and both are still feeding their cats dry food. One does not home test, the other home tests ONE TIME PER WEEK. One is on Humulin N - was upped from 2 units to 4 units this week!!!!! Crazy. Mom is allowing me to home test while she's gone. He's been in the 400's each visit. It saddens me - he is so miserable. The other is on Prozinc. He, too, is miserable. But he is seriously morbidly obese. He's also asthmatic. I have to give him an inhaler every morning - I've never done that before. My guess is that if she will follow thru with TRP he will lose weight, will be able to move about and will not have breathing problems. Fingers crossed. She just moved here and is seeing my vet who told me she's not only familiar with TRP but practices it on her own mom's cat. She kept him on the Prozinc that he's been on but hopefully she'll switch her to Lantus if she decides to "drink the kool aid"! Sure hope so. She'll be out of the country for 12 days but promised me she'll come here to read and learn and I told her how wonderful you all are. Fingers crossed. The other mom said that she'll will take my suggestions and recommendations into consideration, as well. So let's all hope that they will find their way here and their sugarbabies will find their way back to good health!!!!

Going to try to catch up on some posts while I have a few free minutes. Wishing everybody a happy Thanksgiving; Happy Chanukah, Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year!!!!

Hi Susie - great to hear from you. Pass on plenty of scritches to Elian from me. I love that pay it forward is bringing in business for you too! Good luck helping those kitties.

woo-hoo - well done on educating people about FD! it's desperately needed.

i don't know if it would help the asthmatic cat or not, but someone on here recently told me that her cat's asthma resolved when she changed to a completely grain-free food.

thanks for helping out those people! and congrats to you and elian!

So great to see you here and know Elian is doing so well. And what a wonderful thing to be a caregiver/petsitter and educator for beans with diabetic cats. :YMHUG:

Thanks everybody! I feel so passionate about TRP and can't stand seeing these two cats who are both so terribly miserable and for so long. Both have been on insulin for two years but like I said - no testing (1x per week is not testing!); dry food; and in the case of the humulin - from what I've read it isn't even recommended for cats. Oh I forgot to mention that the super skinny miserable boy - Tigger - his mom was told to just give him the shot anywhere she can so she just sticks him in his side or wherever. Unreal. They both seem open to learning since I told them their boys could be so much healthier and HAPPY. Will let you know!

Great to see you all and see Elian doing so spectacular!

Bless you for paying it forward. I hope you are able to make headway with these two families so the kitties will be happier.

Happy thanksgiving!!!
