Lol,

Bailey took a week to stop drooling after his dental, and he had all except 4 canines removed.

Hope he clears the Bounce soon...

Glad Crushy's doing so well since the big dental :-D Hope he clears this bounce soon and good luck with the R. Have a great night Michele

thanks Kim and Wendy!

I think I understand how to use it Marje: At the beginning of a bounce to bring it down 50 to 100 pts, start with 0.1 unit, test every hour for 4 hours, and if it works the next cycle will be lower than usual too.

I *think* he might drift low either tonight or tomorrow and Ill have my chance to try it out when he bounces up from the low.

This is going to make for an interesting Thanksgiving. I will be gone for at least 5 hours on Thursday. I wont use it if he starts to bounce that day though because I cant be there.

And a very important point.....don't give it at a time that overlaps his Lantus nadir. You don't went them nadiring at the same time. And be aware that if you give it at PS, if the R and the Lantus onset a the same time, numbers could come down very quickly.

I've had a few times when Gracie decided to clear her bounce quickly and the onsets overlapped. For quite a while, I couldn't give it to her because she was clearing her bounces so quickly. Numbers can really drop.

And lastly, I make sure when I give it that I can be here to monitor for the next two cycles. ECID but sometimes it does such a good job of knocking back the counterregulatory hormones and opening the door for the lev, that she stays pretty active for a cycle or two.

If the R stays active for 4 or 5 hours does that mean the the R Nadir is at 2 hours? or does that vary too? Or is it just dont use R if Lantus will nadir within the 4 or 5 hours the R is active? And does the R take 2 hours to onset like Lantus does?

(I guess I had more questions than I thought ;-) )

Ok Ill make sure that one of the two cycles after does not include thanksgiving day then. I might have to push back trying it because of that...we'll see. (also what is "the lev?")

Sorry..."the lev" is levemir....that's the other long duration insulin and the one I use for Gracie.

What I have noticed with Gracie and R is that at R+1, I typically see a small drop. By R+2, the R is really kicking in and I can expect her to continue to drop through R+3. Often by R+4, she's slowed down, flattened, or even come up just a bit on a few occasions.

So when I first started using it, I made sure I waited until Gracies lev onset had passed and I made sure her lev nadir did not coincide with R+2 - R+4.

I wonder if the best time to try it the first time to try it with Crushy might be as he is rising fast after his nadir like he did the other day.
