Last night, Simon ate all of his dinner (1/2 can of elegant medleys FF) and overnight ate another 1/2 can of FF turkey. I had to show him the food in the middle of the night because he did not go to the dish on his own. Once I gave it to him, he ate. He actually slept on the bed last night so that is a good sign. This morning, he has only eaten 1/4 of the FF turkey & giblets so I am going to give him some more MC food before work. I am also going to give him about 75 ml of fluids and give another 75 ml tonight when I get home from work. I will also come home at lunch to give him more food. Bupe, pepecid, and ondansetron given. I am going to pick up some more bupe and also get cerenia tabs today from vet. Please keep fingers and paws crossed that he is getting better. I am encouraged to see that he has eaten but he is not back to his normal self yet.

It does sound like Simon is feeling better...I'm so glad he's eating, even though you have to show him the plate (6 months after Trix's p-titis, I STILL have to show her th plate!). Sending more prayers your way....keep eating and feeling better, Simon!

Simon's eating is wonderful, YAY! I hope it continues, and I think it will as he starts to get better. I remember with Mannie that it took some time, the getting better so slow, but there were improvements daily. it's important that he eat, even if the Carbs are a bit more than we would like. Did your vet recommend B12 too? We did that for Mannie, and it seems to help him overall, perked him up some.

I'm sorry I missed you yesterday but I continued my prayers for Simon. I'm glad he is esting some. I'm not surprised he didn't eat at the vet. In all the years I've had cats that had to stay at the vet, not one would eat there unless I went and fed them. I'm really glad he's eating some at home. The recuperation from pancreatitis can take some time as Amy, Ruth , Elise, and others will tell you.

Don't worry if you have to feed him higher carb food....it is more important he eat. Remember doses can always go up if need be.

Yes, as Marje says, recovery from p'itits can take months. Keep giving the cerenia and/or ondansetron until the appetite is normal and then continue for a week before tapering off is my advice. Often vets want you to stop too soon and then recovery takes longer. The first time with Max it took several months and some can't ever get off the medication. Max has been able to get off them every time (anti-jinx). Like with FD it takes patience pants. When ready, most start with tapering and eliminating the bupe, followed by appy stimulants if using, and then nausea meds very slowly. It will happen. It's good that the appy is returning.

Simon had eaten most of his breakfast when I came home for lunch. There was just a tiny teaspoon left of the 1/2 can of FF I gave him. The 373 is a result of the higher carbs, but I can always go up on insulin. Thanks guys for giving me permission to give the high carbs! :-D
I just fed him some wellness turkey for lunch (1/2 small can) and he has less than half left to eat. I also set up an automatic feeder to go off in 2 hours with more MC food. Hopefully, that will all be gone when I get back. Simon even got up from his bed when I came home for lunch and went to his "testing blanket". Yay for small steps!

Simon ate most of his food when I got back from work and ate another 1/2 of small can of food tonight. It is so strange when a cat doesn't want to eat. The things that he always loved, he doesn't like now. Not even Temptations or the dry food I tried to give him to entice him to eat. I just got back from the grocery store and I think I bought every variety of cat food at the store. We'll see what will tempt him to eat. Just gave him his bupe and fluids.

He looks pretty alert but still no litter box action. It has been a little over 2 days since he had a poo. Should I start getting worried? He always went at least once a day, and most times he went twice.

Correction: he just did a small poop in box. It was very sad to see -- he couldn't really hold himself up and his back legs collapsed during the middle of it. I am hoping it is because of the bupe.

All the eating Simon is doing sounds great...big steps for him! Trix developed a lot of food aversions when she had p-titis...to this day she won't eat ANY treats, and won't have anything to do with FortiFlora, which she adored.

Bupe can cause constipation, and of course it can make them weak as well....with a backlog of poop and with bupe in the picture, I can imagine pooping could be a challenge for Simon. Maybe he could use a little bit of Miralax to help things along? Could be something to ask the vet.

I agree with Amy about the bupe and food aversions.That is why I push treating the nausea even if you need to do so for months. I give Max 1/8 teaspoon miralax daily and it does help.
 
I used to give my kitty, Cleo (GA), miralax daily and I don't know why I forgot all about it for Simon. I thought I had some here but will have to go out and buy some tomorrow. He ate most of his late night dinner before bed.
