Something happened that I've never seen before: Ripley didn't want to eat her food. :o

Ripley's never been one to turn away ANY food, ever, in her 14 yrs. This morning I gave her the same thing she happily ate for dinner last night: Merrick's Cowboy Cookout (low carb + low phos. to help w/kidneys). So then I tried a different new low-phos. flavor, Merrick's BG 96% Turkey: same thing happened. I sprinkled some tuna flakes on top, and that didn't help.

I resorted to mixing in a tiny bit of her Fancy Feast Turkey & Giblets, and that worked! I guess I'll have to gradually transition her from her FF to the new food.

Hi Josie! Lovely AMPS this morning, but sorry to hear about the appy issues. Shasta is doing the same thing...just not willing to eat what I want her to, when I want her to eat! ugh! She's mostly on FF and over the past few weeks, she's been IN LOVE with FF Turkey & Gibs...but that past few days...not so much. IRRITATING! I feel your pain. Hope Ripley's appy gets back to normal soon. Have a great day!

Shasta loves FF Chicken, too...and then she's over it. So we try Chopped Grill...and she loves it...and then not! Within the day, she usually gets 3 different kinds of food...some days she loves them...so days, not so much! SILLY KITTIES!

Cats, man. I guess it would be boring if they were predictable  She was just making sure you remember who's in control!

I still have the hardest time with Merrick, and Wellness, and any of the "better" low carb ( and especially lower phosphorus) food choices.
I always have to doctor them up.
The fortiflora always helps.
The bonita flakes sometimes helps or even some of the crumbs of the freeze dried turkey.
But the one thing I use that always works for mine now is I cut up shrimp ( raw or cooked) (i have to cut them up- barely any teeth)
and the juice from the shrimp thawing out.
And my cat will do her best to fish out the shrimp bits but she gets most of the food too.

I wish I knew what those "better" brands have in there for flavor because it sure isn't making an impression on my cat.
It must be the equivalent of cottage cheese.
