Mocha aka Cold Play

Member Since 2015
Waiting for her to benefit from going back to the prior higher dose and waiting.

She is ravenous again and it is rough.

Thankfully, her weight is a solid 8 pound and probably over. She fought to hold 7 pounds for months. She is looking more healthy despite the diabetes. She could use another 1-2 pounds to help fill out her lower body.

She takes to urinating on the basement carpet when her glucose is high and she is so hungry, despite getting fed consistently over the day. A sure sign, without the meter even. Oh well. It will pass when she comes back down again and feels less frustrated.

Looks like Mocha and Snickers are playing together on the black and red floors! Come on, you two, time to come down!

punkin used to just lay against his water bowl. We used a large dog bowl and i always felt so sad when he was laying there, thirsty because of the high blood sugar. Sending "Come Down Now" vines to little Mocha!

In answer to your question from yesterday, we have 3 cats now. Anya, who you've seen pictures of with punkin, and we got 2 kittens a couple of months after Punkin passed away. We thought she could use the company, but it turned out she was afraid of them - and that's persisted. We have an orange boy who likes similar in body to punkin, but completely different faces. His name is Frodo and he's determined to be the boss of Anya, which results in lots of hissing and whacking. And we have McGee, a tuxedo boy, who is just the sweetest little guy. So our house is still full of cats!

At least my house is not the only one with a pecking order being checked every day. :joyful: Strange thing is the girls we have want to like each other but I think they never completely trust the other since they have both been whacked by the other when they did not expect it. One will sniff the others paws or tail and sometimes it is tolerated but usually one tolerates more than the other.

cats are so ridiculous. I really think Frodo likes Anya and wants to play with her. When she comes out in the morning he rubs his whole body and face on her like he's glad to see her. But then she whacks him. Sometimes I think he wants to play with her but it scares her, so she runs off hissing and hides under a chair. He'll actually attack her and the fur flies. Then she passes it on by whacking McGee, who doesn't do anything aggressive at all. It's ridiculous.

As we were told at the shelter when we testing out different cats in a visitation room, sure would be nice if the cat at home could have the visit with the cat to be adopted. Goodness knows, what you see in a shelter is not what you see in a home, especially when they are mixed with other cats! We had one male we tried for Mocha's friend and the cat was subdued at the shelter. When he was here, he wanted to attack Mocha. She tried to like him and it was to no avail. I couldn't take it because I am here all day and to see that was upsetting. So, we were able to take him back and he was quickly adopted out. We saw him one more time and we may not have the purrfect match for Mocha, but Latte was the closest skittish cat we could find. They are pretty evenly matched but Latte generally bows to the older Mocha because she is more timid. Wonder why they think males get along so great with females?! Not always the case. Cats are as complex as people.
