AMPS = 362

I got the Arkway Glucocard 01 glucometer yesterday and I got results that were 80-90 points different from the OneTouch Ultra 2. Wendy pointed out that the numbers will be different because the readings are above the renal threshold and too high. That they'll start reading more similarly once the readings get low.

That makes me uncomfortable but I get it. We're looking at trends when it comes to high numbers. But at what number will the meters start to become similar?

The lowest number I got yesterday on my OneTouch was 221. At the same time, Arkway read 138. I would react differently to those numbers if they stood alone. But because I got 198 on my OneTouch an hour ago, I knew Ming was rising so I just went to sleep.

But anyway, I'll be trying out the Arkway glucometer for tonight's cycle with the OneTouch as a back up. :)

Usually, the lower the number, the closer the readings are. The difference seems to be the most with higher numbers. however, human meters will always read lower. Hope this helps. :)

Can't answer that question. I never compare them. A low is a low and high is high no matter what meter you use. You have to react to the meter you are using at the time of the reading.

Yeah, the meter comparison thing can make you squirrely. I am assuming the 221 and 138 were with the same blood sample?

If take meter variance into consideration, the two numbers are almost the same. If the 221 was reading 20% higher, the number would be 177 and if the 138 was reading 20% lower, the number would 164. It's enough to make a bean crazy. :rolleyes:

Ahh I see. Makes sense if you put it that way.

I think I might stick with the OneTouch meter for another week until the weekend when I have time to prepare myself for the weird numbers lol

PMPS = 295.

Would it be time for an increase after tomorrow? Although I wouldn't feel comfortable increasing until the weekend again. At least Ming is hitting some blues sometimes.

He's been on this dose for 10 days. He just had the one run of greens. Time for an increase anytime.
