Yesterday wasn't bad compared to Saturday. We got down to a blue 166, but in typical Luna fashion, she came back up at night and hung out in the 300s. AMPS 304 and +1 was only 350, so we didn't get a huge spike from her food. We should see something decent today.

It looks like nadir is later than it used to be. Before the hospital stay, we were around +7 or +8, now it looks like it's +10 or later. Not sure what that means, but I found it interesting.

We may have gotten to the bottom of what set off the series of events that led to the DKA. We were flipping through copies of the records we got, and the page the vet sent to the nutritionist listed Luna's diagnoses/problems:
Anorexia, DKA, sever electrolyte derangements, UTI, hepatic lipidosis, constipation, CPA, fluid overload/CHF

We knew they tested for bacteria and gave her antibiotics, but we don't remember anyone saying she had a UTI. We'll have to ask if that happened there because she wasn't going for a while, or if that's something they saw early on. They did ask us to watch if she was peeing a lot or drinking a lot of water. She was at first, but it seems like she's back to her normal now of 2-4 pee clumps a day.

I hope Luna comes down for you today. Nice that you saw some blue yesterday. It will be interesting to see what the vet says about the UTI.

That could very well be what set it off. Not Sure what CPA is except for accountant and I don't think that is Luna case. If I remember correctly, the subq were large volume which would cause the overload/CHF. If you have a cardiologist for Luna you might want to ask what the max is to give.

Ollie's vet wanted to give 300 ml subq. Because it's absorbed its safe. We already knew Ollie has hcm, so I would not allow it. We settled on 50 ml. Then I mentioned it to cardiologist and he said "I hate when vets say it's safe because it's subq". He said it doesn't matter how it's given, it depends on how fast it's absorbed, regardless of method.

The overload happened when she was hospitalized. She was severely dehydrated and they needed to give her large doses of supplements. Then I think that CPA has something to do with her lungs. She had fluid in them from the overload and was having trouble breathing.

Thankfully, we don't give subq fluids and she doesn't need them as far as I know. I don't think she would sit still long enough

Ugh, PMPS 424. I was really hoping 2U would be it.

I try to remind myself she's only been home for a little over 2 weeks, and she's still recovering. People who are hospitalized aren't 100% when they get home and they still have work to do.

That makes sense, but it's still frustrating. I hope she comes down soon for you.
Luna's pal Phoebe Squeak went into the 400's this evening too. I need another pair of patience pants.

This whole disease is frustrating. 1+1 never equals 2.

We're HI now, but that's 500 on the Libre, so I figured it would happen after eating. Hope they both come down tonight

Oh gosh, so sorry you are now HI. But like you said, it's probably from the food. I agree with you completely -- this disease is very frustrating and confusing. Just when I think I've figured out the right dose, everything changes. Here's hoping our gals decide to hang out together on the beach or in the lagoon soon!
