11/25 Leo - Lantus left out overnight

What happens to Lantus if it is left unrefrigerated overnight? I accidentally put it in the drawer with the other kitties medicine and didn’t see it until this morning when I went to give Leo his injection.
I don’t think it immediately loses its effectiveness but I didn’t know if I should start a new bottle or if this one is effective for a certain amount of time. I have put it back into the refrigerator now.

The Pharmacy told me that it’s technically only good for 24 days after left out. It can lose its effectiveness if left out and put back in the fridge. We ended up buying a new bottle a few days later because his numbers got kind of wonky after ours was left out. But most people will tell you as long as you put it back in the fridge it’s fine. I would suggest keeping an eye on the numbers & if they get weird then maybe replace it.

I agree. I’ve already placed a refill request and I will pick up a new bottle tomorrow. I guess he will be good for today, tonight and tomorrow and then tomorrow night I’ll start the new bottle. it isn’t cheap but definitely worth not taking a chance.

I tend to over worry, we picked a new one up the next day! You are just being a safe Momma!! They are the biggest bank breakers, but it’s worth it all. Good luck
