Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone! We hope that you all will have a lovely day with family, friends, and food, and, of course, your wonderful kitties.

I guess Rusty is bouncing from the 58 last night (or else the 58 was a bad reading and he is merely continuing the bounce he started yesterday--whatever!) We all had a good night. It is cold here this morning, snow everywhere, but sunshine expected later, so maybe Rusty will be able to get beyond the back door. The squirrels are busy at the bird feeders, so that should provide a powerful incentive. At the moment, however, he is napping on his cushion next to the radiator.

After a week of socializing, we are relishing being able to stay home this Thanksgiving! We are NOT having a turkey (but Rusty will enjoy his favorite FF T&G as a main meal today--not merely as a bedtime snack)! We are, however, having all the "trimmings": local cranberries, local squashes, local broccoli, and a pie made from local apples. Instead of turkey I am making "Schinkenfleckerln"--an Austrian ham & noodle casserole.

Off now to watch some of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. When I was in high school our high-school band was invited to participate in this parade every year and I loved marching in it. One year it was so cold that the brass players mouthpieces froze to their lips! We woodwind players didn't have that problem, but my fingers were so cold I could hardly move them (because of our "uniform," we had to wear thin white cotton gloves, and since it is impossible to play a clarinet with gloves on, we cut tiny holes into the finger tips of the gloves). What fun. Then, in the afternoon, we had to perform at the high-school football game, getting home just in time for Thanksgiving dinner!

Everyone have a happy. Continued thoughts, prayers, healing vines for all sick kitties and beans. Special thoughts for Jill and Mike. Mike, we are giving thanks that you are on the mend.

Happy thanksgiving! Have a beautiful quiet day at home. Maybe it's time to start waxing the skis!

Thinking of all the friends we've made in LL and so grateful the this place is our second home.

Yum! Schinkenflecken sounds wonderful. Anne was in the band in high school in AR and talked about playing in 4th of July parades in those stuffy hot uniforms and having to avoid the horse poop, which annoyed the director if they got out of step.

Rusty! How bootiful you look in blue this morning!! Extra pets required huh!

Happy Thanksgiving Ella! Bet your house smells really good about now. I also marched in our HS band but being in Texas, we didn't go to many big parades - mainly just the Cotton Bowl. We weren't allowed to wear gloves so froze our hands during the winters. I remember my fingers freezing to one of the keys on my flute and had to pretend to play until I could 'unfreeze'. I was a twirler the last 2 years - froze my short-skirted behind off all the time!

Big hugs,

small world on the marching band I also played flute in band but in my Jr year at a football game that I was not marching in ( cannot remember the reason) kids from another school broke in and took all the instruments left in the bandroom ( mine was one of those) and my parents could not get me another so I was unable to play the rest of that year. By sr year I no longer wanted too anyway but I was in band from 6th grade until this time also played violin for 2 yrs. Happy Thanksgiving to you guys

Have a great day! Your meal sounds fabulous! I played the clarinet in the marching band tto. We played the Orange Bowl parade and game. I thought it was freezing, but hey it was Miami, so it probably was in the 50's.

Zener's square bowls are just under 3.5" in a side and just under 1" high. Hope they fit! We are having a friend visit for the weekend and she gets in tonight so we are having some soup. She's lives in LA, we are worried she will freeze here in the mountains. Tomorrow is pork loin, biscuits, roasted veggies, mashed cauliflower and sweet potato pie.

Happy Thanksgiving, Rusty, Ella & and DH. Sounds like a nice relaxing day planned for all of you. Maggie heard that Rusty is having FF Turkey & Giblets, and she wants some, too. Have a great evening.

Hi again,
Rusty enjoyed his FF T&G. Actually, he had "triple turkey": 1/3 FF, 1/3 Wellness, and 1/3 BG. He didn't finish it all yet. Guess which one of the three he ate first!!!
We have had a lovely day with a fire in the wood stove (which is a wood-stove insert in the original fireplace), a walk downtown this morning on icy roads, and Rusty went outside briefly to survey the snow-covered scene. Mostly he has spent the day sleeping next to the radiator, where we have 3 "beds" lined up: his basket, his cushion, and his tiny "day bed". He moves from one to the other. What a great cat! The Thanksgiving dinner turned out fine, and we are "stufft".

We hope you all had a fine Thanksgiving, too.

Ella & Rusty

Happy Thanksgiving!!! What a great day for Rusty and your meal sound delicious!!

Thank you, Ella, for your wonderful, stabilizing, kind, caring, and supportive posts. And thank you for making so much cimmamum everything for Tobey.

Hugs to the three of you!!

Hope you all had a really nice Thanksgiving. The bean around here didn't have any turkey either, beings as how she's a vegetarian and all! But the kitties had their T&G Friskies canned and the bean had some great fruit salads, green beans & taters!

Tawny just wanted to stop by and mention that now that she's feeling better she has started to notice how handsome that Rusty is, especially in those nice #s today!
