Yesterday's Civvie Hijacked Condo (like that doesn't happen all the time with us! )

Thank you to Elise, Carla, Dyana, Amy and Marilyn for visiting our condo last night. Sorry I didn't get back on. I was kinda fried.

Cinco continues to be my rock amidst the raging waters that our world has become. He is the only cat in the house that will eat anything significant right now. Who'd have thought that, out of four cats, the healthiest one would be a blind, FD kitty?! :? I am thinking we will consider a dosecrease for Wednesday if he doesn't show me something better than this before then.

Dr. C called this morning with Minka's bloodwork results. She is in kidney failure. Her BUN and Creatinine are off the charts. Interestingly, Phosphorus is not as high. Also, her Lymphocytes are very, very low, which Dr. C. doesn't understand. I will ask for a copy of the report tomorrow. The radiologist is set for tomorrow to do her ultra sound, and hopefully that will tell us if it is something reversible, like kidney stones or an infection, or something worse. Minka has not eaten anything yet today. I gave her some Ondansetron a couple hours ago, but she just came down and sniffed at the food I offered and left again. :YMSIGH: Maybe she'll eat after I do her fluids this afternoon.

Harvey is behaving much more like his usual self today - more active, not hanging by the water dispenser, etc. He isn't excited about food, though. He has drunk some chicken broth and eaten a few tiny bites of chicken. Dr. C. said the Cerenia shot would be wearing off about now, so I'm about to try to get a pill into him. Now that he's feeling better, I don't think it will be the slam dunk it was last night. I still haven't decided whether or not to have an ultrasound done on him. Dr. C. said I could take my time - I don't have to decide until I load the car tomorrow! She said she told the radiologist it might be two cats, or it might be one.

Sasha has also been uninterested in food today. So far all she's eaten is some Nutri-cal and a few of the Hypo treats. I'll be heading up to try again shortly.

Amy mentioned the Wellness issue that another member thought she had. That did occur to me, but Cinco is just fine (anti-jinx), and he eats a bigger portion than any of the other cats. I think it's just a horrible coincidence that it's all happening at once (and good ol' Murphy's Law).

I've been spending the morning going through the food charts to see if I can find a low protein/low phos food that Minka might eat. I have given up on finding one that is also low enough in carbs for Cinco, so I'll just have to get used to feeding different things to different cats. I don't know how you people with kitties that have both CKD and FD do it! Has anyone ever tried the Hi-Tor Neo? I'm trying to find a place to buy a single can to sample, but so far so bad.

Beautiful day here today, so I should get out and do some work in the yard, but I don't think I'll have time. Fortunately, it's supposed to be like this all week, so I hope to manage it by Wednesday, maybe. Rain is coming back on Friday.

Sending healing vines to all in need :YMHUG: , and hugs to all their beans. Prayers continue for Amy's DF, Lyresa's DF, Lisa's DF and Elise's DM.

Tricia

My heart goes out to you. You have so much on your plate and you seem very calm and collected. I know that you will work out what is best for all of them. Know doubt you are well aware of Tayna's CKD website, it's such a great resource.

Sending healing vines to minka, Harvey, sasha and cinco

I am SO sorry you are going through this right now, Tricia. Honestly, if they were eating Wellness, I would take it away from all of them. After the experience Melinda (I think it was Melinda) had with all of her kitties getting sick one right after the other, I just have a bad feeling about it.

It IS possible Minka could have a stone or infection....

Sending endless prayers that everyone heals up quickly.

:YMHUG: :YMHUG: You certainly have a lot on you plate right now.

Have you tried Solid Gold Chicken? It's a little higher for carbs (8%) but very low in Phos. Tess loves it, but only gets it when she goes looking for mermaids. If you can't find it I can send you a couple of cans. I haven't been able to find the Hi-Tor either.

Tess is still eating Wellness Turkey, the small cans. She's fine, I don't think that the problem was the Wellness, but that the cats got into something toxic. It doesn't sound like food poisoning.

I'm so sorry with everything you're dealing with. I hope it turns out to be something treatable for Minka. Sending prayers and hugs. :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

I had to go back to look too, do you know your link is to Dr. Lisa's food list? Wendy put the right one in for you.

(((((Tricia)))) Sending lots and lots of vines to you, Minka, Harvey, Sasha, and Cinco too. I'm so sorry that you have so much on your plate all at once. I hope Minka's ultrasound goes well, and it turns out to be something they can fix easily. I'll be thinking of you all tomorrow.

Adding more vines for good results tomorrow on the US

I don't think I've ever told you how much I truly respect and admire you Tricia...You have such a houseful of furkids, but you do the absolute best for every single one of them, every single time.

That's a very special trait.

I hope that tomorrow's tests go well and it's not as bad as you're thinking it is.

(((Hugs)))

Hey Cinco....time to get on the ball and make your mamabean smile. There's a dosecrease threat on the table!

Thank you Wendy & Amy for catching my mistake - I told you I was fried! I had been copying and pasting the links to the lists from Tanya's and Dr. Lisa's into an e-mail to Dr. C so she could see where I was getting my info on fuds. I also sent her the link to the main page of Tanya's site, as she said she was not familiar with it.

Thank you all for your encouragement and support. :YMHUG: Reading your wonderful notes made me cry, but I've been on the verge of tears for the past 24+ hours, so that's not surprising. I will admit to being overwhelmed by all this. I am just so thankful that Cinco is doing so well (anti-jinx, anti-jinx, anti-jinx). I think they would have to haul me off to the looney bin if something went wrong with him right now, too.

Sasha didn't want to eat much all day, but she just polished off a pre-chemo sized helping of Taste of the Wild Canyon River, a newer food for us (I think I've only fed it once). The others seemed to like it - both Minka and Harvey ate a bite or two and Cinco, of course, ate all that I gave him! I believe it was a little high in Carbs for Cinco's every day (11%), but he only got a little bit as a snack. It's also too high in Protein and Phosphorus for Minka and Harvey, but again, they ate very little. Right now I'm more worried about getting food into them and am trying anything that is not their usual food to tempt them.

I gave Minka her fluids this afternoon. She didn't want to lie down and kept sitting up and sniffing at things on the counter. Luckily, the needle stayed in place. I have to once again say thank you to Marje for her wonderful video. I reviewed it again before doing the fluids. I fall in love with Gus all over again every time I watch it! I was hoping it would make her feel more like eating, but no such luck. All she's had today is a couple bites of cat food and some chicken broth. She might have accidentally gotten a few pieces of chicken, too. I gave her an Ondansetron this afternoon, but it didn't seem to make a difference. I am praying so hard that we learn something tomorrow that will show us a way to make her feel better.

Ann, thank you for the offer. I have not tried Solid Gold Chicken. I have seen it in stores, and I will pick up a can tomorrow while I'm waiting for Minka and Harvey to be done. I'm not sure if it will work for us, as my herd seems to prefer chicken flavors with something else in them, not so much straight chicken. That is ironic, as they all LOVE regular cooked chicken! Cats!

I will post tomorrow as soon as I know something. Hopefully Cinco will continue to be a good boy as I will be gone from about +4 until who knows when. Otto will definitely be called to duty. Again, THANK YOU all for your kindness! :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Prayers and vines are being sent to you. I wish I could do more. Chewy.com has good prices and will sell single cans. Maybe you can place an order including some of the foods you are currently using. Do you have a Global near you? I don't think there are too many but there is one near me in Culver City and the sell the food you want to try. With sudden high kidney values I would think an infection is to blame and hope so because that will lead back to normal or at least early values. :YMHUG: :YMHUG:
