Happy Thanksgiving Eve! Raja has 3 Ps so far today. I had to wake the Queen of Hearts up this morning. She was sleeping late cuz she thought it was a holiday. (She thinks that EVERY day is a holiday for Herself though so that's nothing new)
I made an appointment with the Vet for yesterday morning and brought her there amid much gutteral objections from her. The new vet is around the corner and Raja was shocked at how quick the car ride was. :lol: She was *****ing as I checked in....but I didn't even have to sit down. They took me right in to meet with the new Vet we met a few months ago.

I was impressed with how she was with Raja and shocked at how Raja settled right down! The cystocentesis went well and the Urinalysis was fine. I was really thinking that she was in the beginning stages of an infection with the numbers she has been getting lately. One "accident" outside the LB the other day ( or was it a "deliberate" in Raja's case?) :lol:

We are waiting for results from the Culture & Sensitivity test. (cha-ching) Her nails needed a good trim and the thumb nails were curing into the pads so they took care of that. She also needed her anal glands expressed for the very first time. Now, don't breathe a WORD of that to anyone, okay? Raja would be so mortified if she knew that I mentioned it to ANYONE!!! Maybe those two items were causing her distress...temp was normal and everything else seemed fine. (Except for her disappearing waistline which the Vet talked about ~ much to Raja's annoyance)

If the C & S comes back ok, then we will move on to the issue of her teeth and the possibility that they are the cause of her higher numbers. Guess I will increase her insulin tonight since there doesn't seem to be much of an improvement since our visit yesterday morning. We are waiting before we start her on ABs.
I am so pleased with the new Vet and the entire visit was relaxing and the only stress was when Raja came close to a DOG in the back room....Doctor said she hissed at the dog but she was fine the rest of the time. They have a nice soft blankie on top of that cold metal examining table. Raja acted so relaxed. Really amazing!! Of course, the payment schedule is a lot higher than the previous vet and well, let's just say that Raja will NOT be getting the IPod she wanted for Christmas....(but her Daddy is a softie so maybe he will give in to her wishes) :lol:

I hate to say that I hope the tests explain the problem. Maybe the work that was done (e.g., those pesty glands) will take care of the problem.
 
Sounds like you found a great vet! Too bad it's more expensive tho. I hope you get some answers. Muffin recently went thru the same thing, had an "accident" ;-) outside the box, feeling crummy and her bg went up. I thought she was developing a UTI, so had the cystocentesis and bloodwork done. Urine came back clean, bw just showed an infection of some sort, not in any of the organs. Good ole Clavamox worked it magic, but we still don't know what the infection was from. I hope Raja's problem is as easy and painless to fix as Muffin's was.
 
Hi guys .. I hope the rest of the test results come back looking good and that it was really that one unmentionable problem .. Her secret is safe with me! I won't be around Thanksgiving weekend so have a great holiday!
 
Hi Pat & Raja,
Sounds like you found a good new vet! Sometimes (often) the extra expense is worth it! Fingers and paws crossed that the tests will tell you what the problem is (may have been).
Enjoy your Thanksgiving and be sure to give Shadow and Raja some delicious turkey! They deserve it!

Sending healing vines to Raja. I hope her C&S comes back normal although if it showed something at least you would definitively know the reason for the not-Raja like numbers. Good luck with the dosecrease.

I think Princess Raja deserves an IPOD!!! Glad you like the new vet!!

Sounds like you found a great vet and so close! Believe me, I know from experience that sometimes you get what you pay for. Glad she was really good with Raja. Sorry about the iPod Sweet girl. Maybe you should just butter up dad. :lol:

Tell Raja that Shadoe can relate as she too has needed a couple times to have a 'helping hand' at the vet office.

I need to put some Restoralax in every meal that Ollie has as his stool is 'slow moving'. I have been adding some to Shadoe's meals as well and it's made a big difference.

You guys have Miralax I think? I put 1/2tsp in Ollie's breakfast and 1/4tsp in Shadoe's, then I repeat at their pm main meal. Just be sure to add alot of water as the powders draw water from the body to soften the stool and without extra water, Raja will become dehydrated.

If you are already giving powder in foods, up the powder or add more water.

Raja will thank you from any further future indignation!
