Hello All,

I hope everyone is doing well today. I went back to bed after the morning routine and didn't wake up until +3. I think all the stress of the past month is catching up with. Thankfully, Mikey was ok. His number today seem pretty good, considering that bounce. I'm rather nervous about having to leave him tomorrow. I wish I could leave out a timed feeder, but that doesn't work here. I think I'm going to give him the afternoon off from pokes. He seems to have passed his nadir, and he's really getting tired of the poking.

Mikey is really doing so much better on this dose. Dare I say he's getting a little flatter? anti-jinx

Great post to Mike/Webster this morning. I really do think the support of other new members who are dealing with the same issues at the same time is really important. While I'm sure one might think us old-timers forget what the early days are like, we don't. But having someone else who is new give that vital support is very valuable. Thanks for reaching out to him with all you have going on as well.

I also appreciated that post you did :cool: Good job.

If you think your other cats will eat the food, you could leave out more than they can eat. I used to do that. I had to throw a lot out, but I felt better knowing there would be food left for J.D. after Ginger was full.

I don't think Mikey will even know there's food there, once he cuddles up in his bed. But I suppose it couldn't hurt to leave some out. The worst that happens is that it doesn't get eaten, right? I wish I could get home at lunch to test him, but I can't count on that. Teachers don't really get much of lunch, unfortunately.

So Mikey is back up to 324 at PMPS after a day on the lagoon. Is that from the insulin wearing off? Lack of depot? Desire to drive Mommy insane? When I'm not exhausted or freaking out, this is all so fascinating. Any thoughts on keeping him safe tomorrow, assuming he stays with the program tonight? I know. That's a big assumption when it comes to Mikey.

I don't get a "lunch" either. I would sometimes leave a bowl of food here and a plate of food there, and sometimes would even put a plate of food on my bed (on top of a cat blanket or mat). I just wanted it to be convenient for him, and would leave some wherever he was known to hang out or sleep.

Sometimes I would come home and none of the food was eaten, and sometimes I would come home and all of the food was eaten. It was the days that all of the food was eaten that would leave me wondering the most.

Obviously, the insulin has to wear off but I think it's much more likely that what you're seeing is a bounce. Mikey dropped almost 250 points by +5. A fast drop can trigger a bounce much the same way low numbers can.

I suspect that Gabby sleeps through the timed feeder opening and Gizmo gets the snacks. If you can leave food where Mikey may notice it, that may help you to feel more confident about leaving him.

Forgot to add that our boy is ketone negative tonight. Insulted about the invasion of his privacy, but ketone negative. :lol:

Good job Mikey!! I mean Mary :-D ;-)

Insofar as tomorrow, it will be interesting to see what he does tonight. I have noticed in some cats, esp my little diva, that they sometimes take a quick trip to green numbers upon a new dose and then they can come up in subsequent cycles and not visit green again for a bit.

Tonight should give us some idea of what he thinks about this dose.

He's 287 at +2. I'm going to need to go to bed fairly soon, but I'm going to try to make it to +3.
