Okay, so! Around 2 am, it looks like Jack managed to relieve himself of the Libre sensor. He has been a bit more active washer the past few days, and I went really light on the glue - just around the edges - because last time I went heavier, it took a little skin off. The last sensor stayed on only lightly glued. But this one didn’t.

Considerations about exact accuracy aside, I need one on him - my job schedule and needing family help for care pretty much demands a CGM. I very much doubt Jack himself or family members will be happy or willing for multiple ear pricks a day. Even if I do start spot checking a couple times a day myself.

And that sensor was only 4 days old, too. Cat, these things are too expensive for you to destroy! More (and not edge-only) glue for you… I’ll just have to try to get it off slower and very carefully in two weeks.

Really messes up my replacement schedule… was more convenient to do on weekends, especially as it was weekends I wasn’t scheduled to work. Sigh.

On the blood sugar and insulin front, I’m not actually sure if he earned another reduction last night or not. To go by the blood readings I got, he didn’t, but when he started climbing he did so so quickly that it appeared he was bouncing from a low. Per the Libre he may have got down into the 60s, just briefly, a couple times. Due to this next weekend being crazy busy for me with both the holiday AND work - plus lack of much familial help due to other relatives being hospitalized (this last week has been fuuuun…) - no one is going to be able to watch him very closely at all. So I did take a reduction to 1.75 for now. We’ll see what happens and if I need to go back up to stay at 2 units. But I am not going to be able to monitor for lows, so I feel better not pushing it until I can, again.

Thanks… that’s what I was thinking but it’s nice to have it confirmed.

New Libre installed, test number of 318. Which may not be exactly accurate as it’s brand new, but at least it shows the trend close enough. It says it’s rising now, which hopefully means he got down into yellows sometime this morning (when I couldn’t see it of course).

I’m hoping these sudden stronger reactions to the insulin mean his body is settling and/or healing a little… bounces mean Mr Pancreas is still alive and kicking!

Down to 300 by +1 : encouraging sign, as is the fact he’s been holding a wavy line between about 300 and 340 all day. At least he’s not immediately climbing in response to the reduction! Let’s see what he does tonight; it could be a bounce night after last night, or he could come down more. I’m glad for the sign of some stability (even if it’s low 300s) though.
