Last Night:
267 PMPS
327 +2.75
226 +8.75

I did get a 99.3 temp. out the door before work, yesterday, and it was 99.2 last night. Maybe, I'm not sticking the thermometer in far enough? Anyway, I was able to reschedule his bi-anual health check from 12/03 to this Friday 11/25.
I was quite surprised that there were so many openings for appointments this Friday. I'm going to have him show me again how to do the IM shots for the Adequan, because I still feel like I'm just winging it.

J.D. ate 1/2 of his 1st Breffis, and then went over and ate most of Ginger's 1st Breffis, because she has not gotten out of bed yet, this morning. They were fed about 3 hours prior, at +8.75, so I guess she's just full.

J.D. spent most of the night in my bed, and then after the +8.75 feasting, slept the rest of the night in his bed by the sliding glass doors in the living room.

Re: 11/23 J.D. AMPS 398

Good morning Dyana! I have no idea on the temp thing. That is one thing I haven't had to do yet. Great news on getting the vet appt Friday. I guess everyone will be shopping so they were wide open for appts.

Hope JD comes down for you today! Have a wonderful day!!

Re: 11/23 J.D. AMPS 398

I'm glad you were able to get in to see the vet on Friday. I hope there is no real problem. But even if that's the case, it will be worth it to ease your mind. About the thermometer placement, ask J.D. if it is in far enough ;-)

Hi guys .. glad you got the vetty appointment moved up .. I'm sure it will put your mind at ease to have everything checked out .. No advice on the temp thing either, we have not tried that and can't imagine mocha would let us nailbite_smile I won't be here this weekend so have a wonderful holiday!

Re: 11/23 J.D. AMPS 398

I had the same thermometer issues when trying to take Muffin's temp recently. I couldn't get it to read over 99.something. I was wondering if I wasn't getting it in far enough either, but the vet has told me that as long as the silver tip is all the way in, that's far enough. They've also told me that if there's feces in there, you won't get an accurate reading, but the thermometer came out clean, so....I don't know. I've only ever been successful one time, and that was on Oscar when he was only a few months old.

Re: 11/23 J.D. PMPS 275

I got home from work, and tested and shot. We went for a walk. J.D. did at one time seem to be headed for a tree, but did not do anything, and came back to join me.
We came home, and I fed the cats. J.D. ate, and then went downstairs. I thought, I could get a ketone test and grabbed the plastic cup and went to the top of the basement where the litter boxes are. He had peed on the carpet in front of the bottom stair.

Should I take him to the ER?
I decided to test this, by sitting down to eat my dinner, and if he jumped up to get some (beg), I would not take him. He did. We shared a chicken leg.
He is now taking a bath in his little cat bed.
I don't know. The litter boxes were two to three feet away, and he peed on the carpet. At least he pooed twice today.

Please send J.D. some healing vines, if you have any to spare.

Re: 11/23 J.D. PMPS 275

Sending vines.

Is his litter box very easy to climb into and out of if there is hip or leg pain? Easy to access?

Sending hugs also.

Re: 11/23 J.D. PMPS 275

J.D., luv, you are getting all the healing vines we got and then some buddy. And we got a lot, cuz there's a whole bunch of us.

Be well, buddy, and ease your Mama's mind.

I'm sending concentrated healing vines for the boy, Dyana.

glad you were able to move his appt up...

sharing a chicken leg sounds great!

Thanks.

He has had some misses with the poos, but not pees. It was like he was in a hurry and (I didn't watch him, but) got to the bottom of the stairs and just let loose, because it was a lot of pee all in one puddle. The litter boxes are 2 or 3 feet away.
I just don't want an infection.
I did watch him climb back up the stairs and one back leg kind of just follows the one that takes the step. I don't now how to explain it. But, sometimes when he walks, I see him take one normal size step with one back leg and the other takes a very small step. The one that takes the small step is the one I give the IM Adequan in, too. So, I'm going to ask the vet again about that, too.

He just ate his 3rd Dinner. I opened a can of 95% Beef Wellness that I was saving as a treat for Thanksgiving for them. J.D. likes it. Ginger buries it.

Since he is 309, I am seriously thinking about giving him a teeny drop of R, after I test him again a +7.
And, increasing his dose back up.

Right now, he is laying on the kitchen rug, as if he is waiting for shrimp.

Maverick did that when his arthritis flared up also. One leg lifted up each step, the other followed. One step at a time. His bad leg always followed his good leg to the steps. He bunny hopped down the steps also. We put baby stairs, stools, ottomans everywhere and he used them immediately. Make sure his leg/foot isn't cold. Do you have a heated bed for J.D.? They make flat ones. Do you have a litterbox downstairs and upstairs for him? I also carried Maverick up the stairs to save the wear on his joints and made him elevated feeding stations. He had a hard time crouching with his hips. He ate or drank either sitting upright or standing.
