Yesterday's Civvie Heavy Condo
Late Condo Queen here. It's been a really tough day and I wasn't sure I'd get to this at all. Cinco is being so cooperative during this Civvie crisis. I know I should be thinking about a dosecrease, since he's only had one green in the last nine cycles, and it was a 93, but I just don't have the energy right now to worry about it. As long as he's staying out the the stinky pinkies and is staying safe, I'm not going to mess with his dose until everything else calms down.
When we got home very late last night (or early this morning), Harvey seemed a little better - perkier - and he ate a little baby food. Minka wouldn't touch baby food or cat food, but she did drink some chicken broth and ate a little boiled chicken. Then, when I got up this morning, Harvey was meatloafing again, at the top of the stairs, looking pathetic. I went down to fix the kitties' breakfast, and I could hear him throwing up.
It was all baby food. Minka drank a little more chicken broth and ate a little more chicken, but nothing else. I called the vet and they said they could squeeze us in at 1:30. When I went to pick up Harvey, he didn't struggle. He didn't resist when I put him in the carrier, and other than two little pathetic squawks as I put him in the car, he made NO noise all the way to the vet. I was scared to death - that is NOT Harvey. He normaled howls the entire way.
Minka protested the whole way, but her protests are much more ladylike. She hasn't acted ill, just hasn't been eating. They weighed Minka first, and she was down several ounces from her last visit. Dr. C. examined her and said she was very concerned about her kidneys (I did NOT like the look on her face before she spoke). She said one was much larger than the other, and Minka cried during all the poking and prodding. She said she wanted to do a full blood panel (which she was due for next month, anyway), and x-rays. The x-rays showed that her right kidney was blown up like a ballon - maybe 10x the size of the left. She said this could be several different things, some minor, and some scarey, including cancer. She is going to call their radiologist and ask if he can come Tuesday (he doesn't do Mondays) to do an ultrasound. If he can't for some reason, we will take her somewhere else to get it done. They gave her 200 ml of fluids and said to just keep her hydrated and try to get her to eat. When we got home I offered chicken in broth - she drank the broth and left the chicken. When dinner time came, she showed up like she wanted to eat, but turned down tonight's entree and baby food. For no particular reason, I got out the A/D and warmed up a spoonful, and SHE ATE IT!!! I have her another spoonful and she ate that, too. I cried. I'll offer her more later this evening.
Harvey came next. He had lost 3/4 of a pound since Tuesday! She said he was very dehydrated. I had checked him yesterday afternoon and he was not then. She couldn't find anything to indicate why he was so sick, but they all agreed that he was NOT himself - he was lethargic and quiet the whole time. He was given 200 ml of fluids and a shot of Cerenia. I came home with a bag of fluids (the one I have is about a year old) and told to give 200 ml tomorrow if he is not a lot better. She also said if he's not better tomorrow, she wants to do an ultra sound on him, too. He actually leaked a lot of fluid out of the injection site on the way home, which I'd never seen before. By the time we got home he was walking a little better, and a little while ago he ate a couple of teaspoons of baby food. He's currently camped out next to one of the water dispenses (Cinco's, actually, and Cinco isn't too happy about it).
Needless to say, we're pretty shell-shocked about Minka, and still worried about Harvey. Thankfully, Sasha is still eating here and there and Cinco is causing no stress at all. Sorry I haven't visited anyone today. I'll try to visit a little later. Please send your vines and prayers for Minka and Harvey. I'm sorry to be so Civvie oriented lately and I appreciate the patience and empathy you all have shown us.
Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans. :YMHUG: Praying for Amy's DF, Lyresa's DF, Lisa's DF and Elise's DM.
