I think, for now at least, my curiosity is satisfied and I will stop the double testing. All the duplicate tests were done on a single drop of blood. I wouldn’t poke Weezer twice out of curiosity! We increased from 5 U to 5.5 U last night. My most sincere thanks to all of you for your support, insight and advice on yesterday’s condo.

Wishing a kitty day for all, plenty of purrs, play, sunny spots and lots of love.

I hope this dose is Weezer's best one and you get some great numbers from it. The darn meter problem is just the icing on the cake! It will get better :YMHUG:

Good morning, Linda. Hope the dosecrease does the trick for Weezer. It was interesting to see Libby's comment about how when you hit the right dose, then you get lots of action. When that happens, just remember to breathe. :smile:

With the exception of the numbers over 400, it looks like the FSL and Relion were within 20% of each other. Either way, the cycle was flat.

Good luck with the new dose. I too understand the concern with the meters, but also know you'll he happier and less stressed now that you have chosen one. Sienne is right - they are within the 20% variance. I went through something similar a while back when I tried a new meter, this one for me went the other direction - 20% higher. ugh... anyways - point being: I stuck with the meter I like, and haven't tried anything else since. This way you'll see the trends more reliably. Keep ion truckin' - eventually you will find Weezer's break though dose. It will be there.

have a great one today! and Weezer? Mannie wants to go to the beach...he has heard that there is this silly regulation about no pink suits on the beach... so down you go!

Weezer - would you and KT PLEASE get off those ugly pink floors? They're dirty...no, wait, maybe they aren't now that you both have been rolling around up there. Looks like you've got other company up there today too....silly baby....

Hugs Linda - that meter thing sucks but I'm glad you're abandoning the dual testing. You've got enough to worry about without having that running thru your head too. You WILL find the right dose....

Hi Linda hope Weezer comes down from the pink floor soon I think he and Do Lou must be having a party up there :roll: I for the most part have quit double testing as well but I did compare my FSL this morning to relion and got yet another 150 diff :YMSIGH:

I used to switch between the Accu-Chek Aviva and the ReliOn Confirm, depending on whether I could get the Aviva strips at a decent price because they were soooo expensive. The Aviva was usually about 30 points higher than the ReliOn and that's when I decided to just stick with the meter that had the cheaper test strips...I just wanted to make sure Champ's numbers were consistent with the one meter. It's frustrating, though, not know which one is "right." Choosing one and sticking with it will lessen the amount of gray hair you get, thereby saving you money on hair color!!! It's a win-win!!

I'll be saying some prayers for you and Weezer, hoping you get to the magic dose sooner rather than later. You've been doing such an excellent job and the fact Weezer feels so well is a testament to that. I hope you have a really terrific day, Linda!!!

Hi Linda,

I hope this new dose is a breakthrough for Weezer. She is lucky to have such a dedicated bean. I was checking out your spreadsheet yesterday, and I'm curious... how do you get the weight of her urine every day? If Weezer is an only cat I guess that would make it easier... just wondering what your procedure is. Your spreadsheet looks great, I aspire to have that much data!

Melissa,

Since Weezer likes to play with her water a bit, we have a big stainless pan set up for her. It makes watching intake difficult, so I decided to measure output. We got a smart cat box. It has two layers, the top is filled with safflower seeds (strange but true) and the urine goes right through to a catch tray. Easy to weigh on a kitchen scale.

Weezer isn't an only cat, but she only uses the box in "her" bathroom. Our civie, Doobie, doesn't have access to it. Weezer prefers to stay in the master suite, with occasional forays into the rest of the house. She detests Doobie, so to give her a refuge, we cut a hole in the mater suite door that she can fit through, but our portly boy, Doobie, can't wiggle his way through. He tried, but found the whole experience humiliating. We found it hilarious! :lol:

Oh my gosh! I thought WE were the only ones that did that - so did all our friends...they laughed. :roll: Ours kept the stOOpid dogs out of the lb's...

Lyresa, do your dogs treat the lb as a snack bar? Our dog, Mini, did when she was a puppy, but thankfully outgrew that habit. :roll:

Yep they both did...gag... They were a sheltie mix and cocker mix, rescues that we lost in 2004 but months apart, CHF and just old age. We cut a hole in our RV's cabinet door for the same reason - we all traveled many thousands of miles together for several years.

The 'puppies' will never be able to get to them to try...at 18 months old, they're about grown at 12 lbs each and 10"/12" at the shoulders.

Hope this is the dose that brings Weezer down. No more meter comparisons for me either except to complete my task for Abbott. We are sticking with Relion Confirm for now.

:lol: I thought we were the only ones who did that too. We have a cat 'door' that we cut into the door to our upstairs to make a dog-free zone for the kitties. We also have some cat shelves on the walls with 'doors' cut into them - like http://www.thecatshouse.com/ only not quite as cool. I will try to get some pics up later, for now I am off to work!

Awwwww Miss Weezer please come down now!! I'm glad you found a meter and are sticking to it, i think we've all been in that "testing with 2 meters" situation. It is frustrating!

So cute with your pleasantly plump kitty not being able to fit in the kitty door. :lol:
