11/22 Smokey AMBG 86 OTJ Trial Day 4

Day 4 and all is well. Smokey BG does go up to around 115 at 4am each morning- which is usually when he decides to throw up then is back down in the 70-80's range by 8am- a similar thing happens in the early evening- but no throwing up...
He's a happy kitty this morning- lots of snuggles!

I'm so glad to see the trial is going well!!

You might want to think about a snack a couple of hours prior to those times. It may help to neutralize a slightly acid tummy and promote Smokey's panreas to produce some of it's own insulin and bring numbers down.

Thanks for the suggestion Sienne- I think that you're right and that Smokey is throwing up when his stomach is empty. I've also started giving him 1/4 tablet of pepcid once a day. I might try twice a day...

I've been studying the CRF site and they recommend Slippery Elm Bark for upset tummies too. pepcid id good, but I wouldn't want to give it for too long.
