Sissy has been off insulin the last 5 days. Her numbers crept up today so I'm thinking she should start back up tomorrow, but not sure. First off...should she go back on? And second...if so, what dose? I was thinking .5 or 1...she has a pretty good response to the insulin so I don't want to start too high because of her eating/health issues the last several weeks.

I know I'm posting late so replies might not come before time to shoot...so if I need to wait for the pm cycle to start I can.

Thanks!

She's eating *better* most of the time. But better still isn't her normal. That's the only reason I was thinking about starting at the .5 just because if it does take her lower and she is having a time she isn't eating then I'm not as likely to have to force feed her...that ended up being horrible the last week before her new meds started kicking in.

I had planned doing TR. Her eating is the issue.

Could you put NS (no shot) or skip in the units columns where you didn't dose? just so we know you missed the dose instead of missing data on the spreadsheet.

Sissy didn't earn a reduction from 1.0 units, if you were following TR, but with her now eating dry food, that means following SLGS. And earning a reduction from 1.0 units to 0.75 units.

Okay, I entered the NS on the empty spaces.

Shoot, I didn't know the dry food would mean SLGS. Even the Dr. Elsey's? That's the only dry she's getting and it's only a very small amount a few times a day to just so she's eating enough if she's slowed down on her wet. I thought the Dr. Elsey's was okay. I will try to get her off it then soon because I did want to do TR. :/

She probably would have earned a reduction on the 12th if I hadn't backed off a bit because she wasn't eating.

The Dr. Elsey's you are feeding is dry food right? That means SLGS. Dry food absorbs at a different rate than wet/raw and takes longer to get out of the system. The TR protocol was developed with low carb/raw food and since it's a more aggressive dosing method, we stick to the wet/raw for it.

Yes, it's dry food. She probably gets maybe 1/3 of a cup, maybe a little more, a day...spread out. I hate to take that away from her, she' eating it really well. Maybe when this bag is gone I can just switch back to TR. I'm glad I bought the smallest bag. I still don't understand how SLGS can get them where they need to be if they aren't allowed to fall under 90, but I've read here that it works.

I've been throwing foods at her trying to get her to eat...and we noticed this week that the hair on her back end is very thin...it looks like she's overgrooming again. So I'm going to have to somehow figure out how to get her to eat what she was eating. I'm considering going ahead with the allergy panel blood work. The vet said it's not accurate and she wouldn't order it, but maybe it would give us a starting point with her. Plus I don't trust her anymore, so maybe the new vet will have more ideas.

I have a cat with allergies, and my vet also told me there is no good test out there. It's more a trial and error thing with various proteins.

:/ I was hoping....

We had been eating only chicken, turkey, rabbit and seemed to be doing okay. She won't touch any of that old food now though. The other stuff we've given her has that, but also fish or fish oils, but I don't think I added anything else...but it could have been one of the others and she's been doing it awhile and I just didn't know. She had licked the inside of her front legs till the hair was a little thin, but she must have been grooming more and we just didn't see it until last night when the light hit her a certain way...and now I can't believe I didn't see it! I feel bad for her.
