yesterday's condo

Jude is still not eating, so I have had to resort to assist feeding. We started on Ondansetron yesterday to see if it would calm any nausea that might be causing the inappetence, but it doesn't seemed to have made a difference. I just gave him his first dose of Mirataz--a half dose, due to the warnings of others on the board regarding the possible side-effects. I first tried to give him a 1/2 dose of Zyrtec (as an appetite stimulant), but I simply cannot pill this cat--his head is too large for me to get my hand around, so I went with the Mirataz instead. Fingers crossed this helps boost his appetite.

Meanwhile, our numbers are good.

Still broken-hearted for our friends, Helen and Noogi.

Have a nice weekend everyone! Safe surfs, kittens!!

Oh! I buy the generic of Zyrtec at Walmart and know you can crush it and add it to their food. If you're syringes feeding, sprinkle that in there.
I had a cat that could find meds in tuna juice! So got to taste testing it first & this med had absolutely no taste to it. I'm hyper sensitive myself and it's easy to mix in food. Also easy to turn into powder too.
Good luck! πŸ’•

Sorry to hear Jude’s still not eating and are now having to assist feed. I sure hope he turns around quickly. Good luck with the Mirataz.

Hope you and your furry crew have a calm and relaxing day, Mary.

Ps - you forgot Jude’s name in your title.

He actually ate quite a bit a little while ago of some HC. I don't care about the carb value at this point. Just please eat little guy.

Thank you for this! I'll try the crushing and adding to the food the next dose!

Hi Mary, I'm sorry to hear Jude wasn't esting earlier. I'm glad he ate some of the HC. Doesn't matter at this point as long as he eats something. That's the most important part. Boys and I are sending lots of PAWsitive vibes and healing vines your way.

Hi Mary, I'm sorry to hear that Jude wasn't eating earlier. I'm happy to hear he ate some of the HC . I hope he continues to eat and starts to feel better πŸ€—
His numbers are looking good 😊

I have used Mirataz many times with cats and yes sometimes it can really send the kitty on a food binge, making them super vocal and overly active, but if that’s the tradeoff to get food into a kitty while figuring stuff out, I’m ok with it. All depends on total picture of what is going on.

Do you think his mouth is painful? Or something else ? I’m glad to hear he ate some HC.

Royal Canin has a high calorie, rich wet food called Recovery that could be enticing. I never researched the carb content as I used it before having diabetic cat.

Ha! I think I was posting on your page while you were posting over here.

So far, about five hours into half a dose of the Mirataz, he has eaten some (yay) and doesn't seem to be displaying any weird behaviors, like vocalizing, etc. I'm hoping that will continue (ANTI-JINX!).

I'm not sure if his mouth is painful. When the vet looked at it the other day, he didn't note anything that looked like it could be causing pain, he just said he needs another dental because his gums are inflamed.

Ha! Yes on posting! Yay on eating. Sometimes mirataz can have very fast reaction! Great!

That is a lot going on with Jude. Is he mostly just on weruva food? I assume if food could have anything to do w/ fic flares they would have already covered that.

Meanwhile, Minner hovering in 60s for 3 hours. I prefer 70s. My hubby says I need to get over it b/c it just seems impossibly to get the balance I am after. I mean really … 0.125 units can do this much at this high of a dose. The tipping point has to be a thing!

Jude is mostly on FF classic pates, but I'm trying to move him over to a LC/low phosphorous food, and we are giving WX and Truluxe a try. It's a process.
