Hi all,

Should we shoot this 325? If so, how much? A drop? The test was an hour ago and right before Brian fed him. He's acting okay. More hungry than usual and a little "growly" at times (but mostly when tired) which was typical of him just before diagnosis. We'd get another pre-shot number so we could measure effect better.

I'm hoping to get him to the vet tomorrow afternoon for bloodwork/urinalysis to rule out infections. Our insulin is just over 3 mos old. I hope it still has some oomph.

Thanks for any advice!
Janice

Re: 11/25 Johnny PM 325 shot? how much?

Given that this is Johnny, I'd start with a drop.

I'm sorry, Janice. I hope this is due to something like a needing a dental.

hi Janice

I'm so sorry you guys are back, but it is nice to see you!
Johnny, poor kitty, let's get those numbers back on track...lots of vines for vetty visit!

Re: 11/25 Johnny PM 325 shot? how much?

Thanks, Sienne. And good to see you too, Ronnie. We tested again and he is 297. I know that's a drop, but I feel like he's high enough that 297 was pretty much the same as 325. Let me know if that's a bad assumption.

We shot a drop and we'll get +3 unless a sooner number would be helpful. I'm curious to see if it will just go right to the shed or right to work.

Bummed for my boy, but glad to have you all!

Can he get a dental when he's still bobbling around, numbers-wise? We could set it up for next week.

I don't see why not. Gabby had a dental with her numbers. Deb/Spot did as well, when it knocked Spot out of the Falls.

Re: 11/25 Johnny PMPS 325/297 (drop)

I'm wondering if we should just schedule a dental for him early next week and see what that does? It is uncommon to relapse at this point (just shy of three months) without there being an underlying cause? If I should be heading to the main board to ask, let me know and I'll hop over there (or maybe the honeymoon page?) I just feel like so many on this board know his history so well. He's never had any health issues before the diabetes...no UTI or anything.

I'm sure if we took him in tomorrow, that the vet wouldn't argue against doing the bloodwork, etc. But I know from history that they'll question giving a new prescription for insulin this early (they said it should last a year). I hate that we don't feel lots of trust in our vet, but I don't think we can switch before we go away on Thursday.

ETA: Just asked over on Feline Health.
