Good luck!! Hope things go well for Cini Mini. I am sure that with the one drop she'll be back on track in no time. Good luck with the micro-dosing... it sure is not my forte. :lol: I love fresh starts - it will be a great day for you!

I see you use an AlphaTrak meter, do you convert the reading ( subtract 30 points) and enter it on your SS for Maggie?

I see you also do the mini meals at PS, +1, +2, +3 and it looks by what I see in your SS for Mannie that it's always 4% carbs? When do you determine to feed higher carbs? Like 6 or 7%?

I was going to start out today feeding mini meals of 6% carbs for Cini. Maybe I should start lower?

Hi, no I don't do the conversion on my SS, but I think Anne & Zener now do so on their ss. I've been using the ATrak almost two years and am so used to her numbers on the AT and comparing to everyone's on the human meter. I do now and then use my Relion Micro as a back-up when I get a number I'm unsure of or wonky. I use the ATrak mostly because it's closest with the Vet, and he really likes seeing her ss weekly.

I don't believe Ann converts the number. She does note using the AT meter in her subject line, though, to remind everyone about the meter.

I think I will still keep the two pages on my SS for Cini. I have enough running around in my head :-D

Cathy, I love your attitude! Cini is sooo close, I hope the drop will do it for him. :lol: :lol: Weezer gets called him a lot, but I don't tell her. It the non-gender specific names, I guess.

OK, so AMPS is 328 on the AlphaTrak. Obviously he needed to go back on to the juice.

Just fed him 1 tablespoon of 6% food and gave 1 drop of Lantus.

Sorry about the pink number.....fresh starts are good though! I would get a +3, you'll just need to collect data and see how the feeding works, and then adjust as necessary.

I think Gracie didn't want to eat that often in the beginning either, but she adjusted to it. ;-)

punkin's telling me that he'd be happy to help out with any leftover food that cini mini doesn't want! :lol:

be curious to see what the one drop does! he's so sensitive that may be all he needs - hopefully not so much that you're high carbing him daily!

Am I correct in understanding that once I feed him at +3 I don't feed Cini again till +6?

Oh, and since I did a +2 and a +3 BG, do I need to get a +4? Or just wait till +6?

Good luck with the fresh start! Cini is oh-so-close...it's amazing what one drop can do! I'm sure in just a little bit of time, you'll be ready for another OTJ trial.

That's nice, he seems to be slowing down a bit. Has he eaten most of his normal amount of food for the cycle?

There are no exact "rules" for the mini meals...I suggested the PS, +1,+2,+3 as a starting point. If he is used to eating at +6, you could give him a snack then...or you could give it sooner if he wants it.

I would get another test at +4. I know it's a lot of testing, but you want to get an idea of what he does with the mini meals. If he is flat, you could give him a break then.

*Note - I am typing this while kneeling in front of the computer because SOMEone is sitting in my chair and will not get out! See picture in Cini's picture link in my sig.*

I'd say he's eaten pretty much what he would have eaten this morning if I would have fed him just the one time at PS. By +8 he would have eaten three fourths of a 5.5oz can of food.

But I think I am understanding I shouldn't feed anything again on this new schedule till +6 and then PMPS?

Just trying to establish a routine. That way I can schedule my work day around that and take care of Cini.

The Vet says for his target weight (10 lbs) he should be eating 8 oz of food a day, but I can barely get a 5.5 oz can in him.

Oh, and his +4 is 156. As you can see, 1 drop makes him plummet!

Here's how the rest of the evening is going:

+8 -Finished the 1/2 can Friskies Ocean Whitefish and Tuna (6%) that was offered earlier at +5
+10 - 168 @ 6pm. Gave Pepcid at 6pm - vomited
+11 - 218 @ 7pm
PMPS - 233 @ 8pm - Fed 1 Tbs Friskies Turkey and Giblets dinner (7%)
1 drop Lantus insulin @ 8pm

I'm sorry I couldn't get back to you sooner, I had to leave for an appointment, and then was on the road for the rest of the afternoon/early evening....trying to catch up now! It looks like the mini meals went pretty well today...what do you think? I see you fed at +5...that's fine! You will need to adjust the schedule for Cini Mini...nothing is carved in stone. Think of it as a starting point, to be modified as necessary.

it's actually a really nice curve today. loved the pics too. i wouldn't just say that an AT's blues are equivalent to non-AT greens - probably just mentally subtracting the 30points would be a more accurate comparison.

Hi Laurie.

Yes, Cini was so insistent to eat at +5 I had to give him something.

Also, I don't know about withholding food for 6 hours till the PMPS. I think that's why he vomited the Pepcid at 6pm.

When Cini gets really hungry he starts to lick anything that's plastic - he will chew on the litter pan liners, eat tissue, he'll even start licking the plastic curtain blinds and the plastic planters. Then he starts gagging and vomiting.

I may have to go to a schedule of PS, +1, +2, +3, and then +5, +8. I understand the closer I get to the next PS with food the more it will influence the reading but I also can't afford for him to vomit or gag and have stomach acids in his throat. That's why he had to have throat surgery to begin with. :sad:

I would have liked to get a +8 reading today but I had to leave the house to run an errand at that time.

Tomorrow is going to be difficult, I have to leave after I get a +3 reading and I won't be back till later in the evening around the +10 time. Good thing I got that auto-feeder.

Cathy, if he needs another snack later, that's perfectly fine. You will need to adjust it for your particular circumstances. You may find that you need a higher carb food early in the cycle if you need to feed toward the end too...you'll just have to try different strategies and see what works.

ETA: It's ok to feed at +8...you just don't want to feed within 2 hours of PS.

I was thinking of starting out with a 6% or 7% for the PS, +1, +2, +3 and then going to a lower 3% or 4% for the later feedings.

Cini seems to run out of interest in eating after the +3 and then doesn't get hungry again till +5 or +6.

And thanks for the info on the 2 hour window before the PS, definitely wanted to know that and will keep that in mind.

The +2 went up to 260 from his PMPS of 233????

Is this a bounce from being OTJ for a few days? If not, the only other thing I can think of is that when I gave Cini his injection, he did wince and whine a bit, maybe I missed? I'm pretty sure I got it in him. I usually pet the area where I inject him after to feel for a wet spot in case I did miss.

I would be more inclined to call that a food spike than a bounce - Kazi doesn't really start to pull down until +3 or later.

you've also got a 20% variance rate - so 233 isn't all that different from 260. i wouldn't worry.
 
Thanks Amanda and Julie. You are right and his +3 went down to 237.

If there's anything I'm thankful for this year it's having the good fortune of finding this message board and the knowledgeable people like you who are more than willing to put up with me.

Going to bed now. After all Cini made it for me earlier today....I think. ;-)
