Good evening everyone,
Rusty is still doing his trip bounce. Those who know him will not be surprised. He had a good day and ate all his meals. The beans went to the dentist ("look, ma, no cavities"). I got my NYU library privileges straightened out. Did some shopping for Rusty's fuds and treats. He has been liking the VitalCat treats, the freeze dried raw duck liver in particular, so I got 2 more bags and a bag of chicken giblets to see if he likes those. Then I caught the last day of the REI winter sale.
But the absolute best thing about today is that it is the great tenor saxophonist Coleman Hawkins' 112th birthday celebration on WKCR ( for jazz lovers the best radio station ever. ). The station plays nothing but Coleman Hawkins for 24 hours on this day every year. The highlight today was a 5-hour set of Hawkins with the Fletcher Henderson orchestra recorded in 1933. The original 78 rpm shellac records were played-- a treasure trove with excellent sound for the most part. So here's to a Happy Birthday to "Bean" (his nickname).
We are right now hearing some takes from the 1940s.
Yo Kitties, tomorrow we'll visit our ancestors in the Egyptian Galleries of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. We'll have lunch on the front steps of the museum and watch the tourists. Then a stroll through Central Park, admiring the big cat on Cat Hill. Dinner tomorrow night at the Kit Kat Bistro. The Blue Mannie Group will play.
See you at the museum.
