Yesterday.

The CareTouch lancing device arrived and after watching the testing video starring the adorable Peanut, I was able to get a large, beautifully formed drop of blood from Ruby's ears without any flinching, flicking, escape attempts, growling, or :arghh::banghead::blackeye::(:confused:o_O:woot:. Making a dark circle around the edge of the clear cap was a super helpful suggestion so I could see where the opening of the device was. And the best part: I ONLY USED ONE STRIP! Hallelujah! Thank you all for listening to all of my whining about this. I finally feel like after more than a month of doing this that I've got a handle on it.

Happy Caturday everyone!

+5 = 78. Have to leave the house until +9 or 10, so left combo LC and MC food for her to chomp. She’s been acting really perky today, following me around the apartment and rubbing herself against my legs. Ruby’s a sweet kitty.

Wow! Seems like the lancing device has made a huge difference! That's wonderful news. Congratulations on your success, and happy poking. :):bighug:
I still need to find the right combination of pressure and depth—I may have gone through her ear once this morning. Otherwise, total game changer! Thank you, Lyla, for inspiring me to get the device. There have been many days in the last five weeks when I have wanted to break down and cry because I was hurting Ruby’s ears not to mention our relationship, and throwing away money on wasted test strips. I feel such relief now!

+11.5 is 94. Very nervous about shooting this low. I'm going to stall for 30 minutes and test again, which is not going to be easy because Ruby's very hungry right now! Any words of advice?

Normally, we would ask if you have lots of test strips, mc and hc food, and karo or honey...we want to know you have the supplies to deal with low numbers. No one will tell you to shoot though, unless they are prepared to stay up with you.

I’m gonna shoot. :nailbiting: I’ll be home all night to watch her and now that pricking is so easy it will be fine. :cat:
Sounds great! Shoot low to stay low. She did go up at pmps but you should still keep your eyes peeled. I will only be up for another couple of hours unless Butters goes low (not likely), but I’ll keep an eye on your thread and ss until then.
Looks like this is the lowest number you’ve shot so far? Way to go! :woot:

I am very well supplied with all of the above! Thanks for checking!

It is indeed the lowest I’ve shot. Will get a +1 and +2. Ruby just ate about a quarter can of LC, and I expect her to be coming back periodically for more.

+2 = 79. Fed her some more LC. Should I test again at +3 or wait until +4? Knowing this cat, she will be dropping at least through +5, the question is how much.

Numbers recap:
AMPS 283, +3 169, +5 78, +11.5 94, PMPS 123, +1 120, +2 79

+3.75 = 61. Keep inching back up, baby girl! Stubbornly she won't eat anything now. I think she is mad at me for smearing honey on her paw.

+5 = 82. She's going up even though she hasn't eaten anything since +3.25. Leaving a tsp of MC mixed with some LC in her feeder.

Going to bed, good night, world!

Nice work Ruby & Katherine :bighug: Glad Ruby waited to have a PJ party with you until you figured out the lancet :bighug:

And the general rule of thumb - esp at night when want sleeeeeeep - is for kitty to go 2 hours with no food and be on the rise.

Good job surfing, Ruby :bighug:
