Yesterday's numbers were good but nerve racking. I called home a couple times yesterday to make sure someone was keeping an eye on him. This morning, numbers not so good. I do know today's numbers aren't going to be so nice, I had a tough time getting a perfect 1.25U, so I think he got a little less than that.

I really need to stop by the pet store and get some other food, I thinking he is getting burned out on the three flavors of FF we have been feeding him. I have been trying to avoid fish, I worry about the heavy metal content. I don't know if that kind of nothing is regulated in cat food like it is in our food. I just need to give him a break I think. Some Weruva maybe, or the Tiki Cat I have heard about.

Purring, peeing, playing (for an old man), preening, pooping (stillllll diarrhea, calling the vet today).

Just got off the phone with the vet, going to try a probiotic mix and 1/2 n' 1/2 cooked chix & regular canned food. Let's keep our finger crossed. They keep trying to push the I/D diet on me (7% carbs), am I crazy to keep refusing this? It would send his numbers all over the place... confused_cat

Hills i/d is 23% carb according to Dr. Lisa's list. If Mocha has allergies to certain foods like fish, then buy foods that don't contain it, no need for special allergy free food. Ella's Rusty has a fish allergy too and she feels Wellness Turkey primarily with some FF turkey and giblets (I think, you can always PM her and ask).

What probiotic are you going to try?

ETA: Some cats, as they switch from dry to wet can experience diarrhea until their systems get used to it. Paws crossed that's soon for Mocha.

Mocha doesn't have any actual allergies, I just worry about metal build up in fish. I mostly feed chicken, beef and chicken & liver flavors by FF and Sheba. As for the probiotic, I only know the brand; RX Vitamins Inc. I know which diet change things can get upset, but it has been 20 days on this diet. Shouldn't things be settling out by now?

Anyways, off to boil some chicken. This cat might be eating better than I do

A lot of people here use Fortiflora for a probiotic. Your vet may carry it, or you can get it on line for cheaper.

That's as it should be.  My cats eat raw and only organic, hormone free meat.

Oh yeah, my cats definitely live better than I do, too!

Have you seen Dr. Lisa's cat food list? Maybe that will help you figure out another option for Mocha. Trix eats Wellness chicken. I don't love the company (long story), and she's kinda sick of it, but given both her FD and early CKD issues, it's what we're left with. Since she's sick of it, I do "enhance" the flavor with a small sprinkling of FortiFlora, and a teeny bit of BFF Tuna and Chicken Chuckles mixed in, and she's happy as can be. She does love seafood, but like you, I do worry about feeding it exclusively.

Here's a link to the list:

I hope you guys are having a great night!!
