Ketone Neg 11/17

I got home at about 4am, gave JuJu a snack (+8 104) and afterwards he was ready to play. Must of had him going for about a hour. Haven't seen this kind of energy from him in quite awhile. It's really fun! :-D

I know, I deserve to be smacked in the head. I'm seriously slacking on the Ketone testing. I have tried a few times but JuJu isn't a fan of me lifting his tail anymore. Rightfully so! Guess it was beginners luck the first few times. I think I'll try Marje's tin foil trick later today.

I stayed up to feed him his breffis and get an AMBG. It's seepy time for me. Gonna set my alarm for a +4 snack because that's what seems to work best for him.

I'm not sure you need to be checking daily for ketones anymore. I haven't heard of a need for that when you're not giving insulin anymore - I'd think with no insulin, as long as he's staying in normal numbers and you're not seeing signs of illness that you probably can let that go for now.

Let's see if others weigh in on it, though.

JuJu is looking great on day eight! :mrgreen: That +8 snack worked like a charm.

I agree with Julie. The ketones formula is not enough food + infection + not enough insulin. I think he's generating enough insulin. As long as he's eating well and got lots of energy (perhaps more than you do in the wee hours :lol: ) I'd get periodic tests.
