WCR: All is good in BlackieLand, aside from the higher PS #s last night and this morning. I'm guessing that she found, and got into, the evil contraband.

Other than that, I've noticed a dark patch on the ear on the other side of the vein. I test her between the vein and the outer edge of the ear, and I noticed this patch yesterday as the light from the window was shining through, and am wondering what that is? Should I be concerned about it? Could it be slight bruising...? I know that when I test her, I do try to gently "pinch" (for lack of a better word) her ear to initiate the bleeding. When testing, I try to make sure that only a minute section of the beveled tip is inserted (if that makes sense). Whatever it is, I truly hope that it'll clear up on its own, and I'm going to adjust my test taking to hopefully minimize the bruising, if indeed it is that.

I always wash my hands before touching her, and always put the equate version of Neosporin with Pain Relief on her after I make sure that the bleeding has stopped.

MY WISH: For God to help heal the broken hearts of those who lost a beloved pet and/or human... For God to help those ailing make a full and speedy recovery... For everyone to have great #s... For everyone to be OTJ.

Re: Question: 11/21 Blackie AMPS 135

It sounds like it could be a bruise to me. I've noticed that on Furball's ear if I hit the same place over and over and it doesn't have time to heal. I try to move around her ear some. I also use neosporin with pain relief after each test, but sometimes her ear just needs time to heal.

I hope Blackie slides down today.

Hi Angela,
I guess it could be a bruise. Try testing as far away from it as you can for a few days and see if it doesn't go away. Maybe try testing on the other ear. Anyway, I'm sure you will be watching it carefully.

Hugs and scritches,

Re: Question: 11/21 Blackie AMPS 135

China has a "darkened" spot on her ear where most of her tests are given too, but since she's a pure white cat, it looks more like just some thickening in that area more than bruising and she doesn't seem to mind it....doesn't flinch or anything when it's poked. I suppose on her, it could also be that there are so many more capillaries now in that one little area that make it look darker too.

Might try poking somewhere else for a few days and see if it gets any better. You can poke anywhere along that edge..it doesn't have to be right there at the "sweet spot"..or maybe try another ear for awhile and give that one some rest

i'd guess a bruise too. that's what punkin's looked like - a dark spot when you shine the light through.
