Today has not started off well. I had the stray cat in the trap went to pick it up and she got out as the trap door was not closed?? Tried to catch her and have several scratches for my troubles. DH stands in the kitchen on the other side of the patio door watching.. Thanks for the assist there DH. To say the least, she got away. I have to catch her. She has decided she needs to become very territorial of our back deck and yard. So brought the trap in with the whiskas and Friskies wet and guess who gets into right away as I am trying to figure out this trip door and why it didn't close?? Yep Jones got a taste of it.:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:
So now the trap, the carpet and crate are all outside as I don't want anything inside that the kitty has touched in case she is carrying something. Upon closer inspection the few times she let me pet her...he belly is round and hard. She is still howling even when petting her and when she is eating. Something is up with her. I need to catch her and bring her into animal control.

In other Jonesy news:
Jones' numbers are creeping up....0.75 too much but 0.60 not enough? 0.70 next?
No gooey poops yesterday not sure that will continue with the bite of food he got today.
He slept with DS last night again.
Because I have old eye disease I was looking how much bupe I had in the bottle when I was drawing it up. I usually put my glasses on after to draw his dose of insulin but can see the red line on the syringe used for the bupe. Well, he wasn't getting any. Don't think he got any yesterday at all which would explain the reason why he was hiding last night and kept moving around. Which may explain the higher numbers as well.

Ok Jonesy..here is your inspirational picture for today. You see, not too much pudge but enough to cover those bones of yours. You good with that?

You have had quite a challenging day start to the day. Hope it gets better.
Hope Jonesy numbers settle down, despite his little adventure today.

Stick with the good food Jones, it'll make you look good like that inspirational picture.

First 2 Google's say cat's can get pregnant as early as 4 or 6 months old.
Won't tell you how many "kittens" with kittens the shelters see. :( Fortunately the numbers are trending down. Good luck with the trap. Do you have it covered with a towel/blanket so it's a safe place that doesn't look like a trap? Too bad animal control officers won't help.

Here in Edmonton the laws are weird. You are not have your cat free roam outside your yard but also you are not supposed to catch a free roaming cat - only if it is deemed a nuisance cat. You are to licence your cats so they get a free ride home but the ACC will not actively help you trap said cat.

Now if it is a stray, if it is not hurt you are to leave it as the shelters are full. However, you are supposed to report said cats. You can rent a trap for three days though. Very confusing.

This kitty needs a home it just can't be mine at the moment otherwise I would just open the door and let her in. Would be so much easier at this point.

Every where I've lived in Canada someone wants cats to be licensed, it never works. Our tiny town shot from a population of 20k to 100k but the mayor hates cats and he's 100 years old so we don't have a shelter, so embarrassing. We pay Burlington, an hours drive away, to be our dog catchers. Lucky for us there is another group that will leave you a live trap if they think you're smart enough to know what to do.
The cats that visit our deck aren't a nuisance, they're just cats. It's really painful to watch trees get mowed down for condos, I haven't seen a raccoon in over a year. Downtown Toronto has a million raccoons, possums, squirrels and even red foxes. Move out to the suburbs and you get pigeons. Some of our neighbors dislike peanut shells on their lawn and wonder where they come from. It's us feeding starving squirrels.
