Back up after 99 pre-meal PM test. Still at 1.5u.

Note that all AMPS tests about 1 hour after she eats her AM meal. I'll try to get a pre-meal test this weekend to see the diff between pre- and post- meal levels.

Lee still floods the box a bit. What else can I be doing (besides more testing throughout the day, which I can do on the weekends), to see about further adjustments to the dose to reduce the flooding? Or is that something I'll have to accept as "typical" diabetic cat behavior?

I'm also nervous about leaving them all at the boarding place again over the holidays. They lost weight the last time they were at the boarding place, which put them at 5 "ideal" on the weight chart. But any add'l weight loss and they will be too thin as none of them have the "cushion" (pardon the pun!) to experience more weight loss. Now granted, they were there for 9 days, they will only be there this time for 4-5 days. But (like most cats) they just don't eat much at all when they are away. They didn't do a few insulin doses on Lee b/c she didn't eat enough or at all.

With those numbers she shouldn't still be flooding the box. You may have an additional health issue like kidney or bladder problems.

You really need a fasting number for preshot simply to be sure its safe to give insulin as food wears off insulin doesn't.

Mel - I hope not! She acts normal otherwise, just drinks and pees more than the others. She definitely does not avoid the box (pain association) and doesn't visit the box A LOT (like she feels like she has to go but can't). I never see the others drink out of the water bowl, just her.

What constitutes "flooding" the box? She has larger pee clumps compared to the other two. maybe I'm overreacting?

I could take her in, what kind of bladder or kidney problems would make her drink and pee more?

You could ask the vet to do a blood test to look for issues with the kidneys and make sure it includes potassium. My cat remi had low potassium but not really associated with kidney disease. Apparently as mel advised it can be seen when they have insulin. He is much better now he is on supplements and doesn't drink as much or pee as much.

Re: 11/20 Lee Lu - AMPS 174

Sarah beat me to it, the other possible explanation if she hasn't been checked for it is Hyper-T (hyperthyroid) which will also make them drink more and thus pee more. Although without seeing the difference in pee ball size I will say I have one civie here that if I didn't know he was a civie (bg 45 definitely not a sugar) I would swear he is diabetic because he pees buckets when he uses the box, in his case is he just holds it until he's about ready to explode. But he's been tested for everything under the sun and perfectly normal except that he's very shy about his potty habits and only uses the box about once maybe twice a day and when he does he DOES! Poor Bert he's just a special case....lol Sweetest guy alive, just has some odd quirks, like loving to eat paper to the point where we have to lock the file cabinet or he'll open it to get out paper to munch on, or steal the paper out of the printer

I'm going to take her in on Tuesday if I can, just to get them to test for any other conditions. She uses the box 2-3x a day (I think?) so not excessive, but you can hear it! LOL The pee clumps are large, esp since she favors a corner, so by the time I'm cleaning it (every morning), that corner is almost always soaks down to the bottom of the box, and I keep at least 3-4" of litter in the box distributed higher on the sides 4", lower in the center of the box 3". My other two civvies are Satsuma orange to lime size clumps. Hers are more LARGE orange / softball size.

PMPS was 104 last night, I was almost 1 hour late to test and shoot. Same dose as before, 1.5u. Then fed them. I'll get a couple pre food AMPS tests this weekend.

I'm looking at her ss, she's really surfing the blues, with a little hint of green. I'm pretty happy with this. They are eating Wellness canned GF, and while they don't seem to like it as much as the other food like BFF or FF, they will graze on it. Probably better to have that happen for blood sugar levels.
