I want to thank everyone for the advice on bubbles. The draws last night and this morning went very well. S L O W L Y was the key. No huge hulking bubble! The magnifier I have been using is hand held so I really can’t see exactly what has been drawn until after the fact, when I have a free hand. We have a stand alone magnifier lamp ordered. I think it will get easier when I can actually see what I am doing, when I am doing it.

Did you see Julie's video about drawing up the dose? That helped us tremendously. I'll find the link if you haven't seen it. Also, we use a magnifier that fits around the head along with a magnifying lamp. That works pretty well. I can find links for those too if you are interested.

What a surprise, Weezer is yellow! C'mon, sweetie, how about shocking everyone and showing some blue? Black cats look really good in blue. Have a great day!

I wear the visor magnifier, but you can get small ones that clip right on the syringe too!

I'm so glad to hear that there are no more bubble issues. That's terrific! Nasty bubbles... NASTY! LOL Drawing slowly does help... a lot. I think less is wasted, too, when drawing slowly.

Hoping for blue #s for Weezer soon. (got that, Weezer?) Have a great day!

OK, Weezer.....yellow is good for sunshine....but you would look soooo good in BLUE!!!

Hi Weezer and Linda,
Sorry to miss your condo yesterday, but I see that Weezer is still surfing yellow. Not so terrible!!

I have a technique for getting rid of bubbles that no one mentioned yesterday. It involves working the plunger back and forth 3 or 4 times, then pushing it in forcefully and holding it in (this gets all the air out of the syringe). Next, still holding the plunger all the way in, insert it into the insulin pen. Now you can relax your hold on the plunger. Slowly draw out about a unit more than you need, remove the syringe from the pen, and slowly twist the plunger until you reach your dose. The most important step is pushing the air out of the syringe before you insert it into the insulin.
I find that the Monoject 31-gauge syringes work the best. They have nice, flat plungers that are easy to line up with the marks. You can get a case of three 100-syringe boxes at American Diabetes Wholesale:

Hi Linda, I will have to go back and read yesterday's condo on the bubbles, and I didn't know about the magnifiers that clip onto the syringe. Lots of good info in your condo. I use a hand held magnifying glass. Weezer, are you going to stay flat yellow, how about some blues today? Hope you are having a nice day, Linda.
 
Almost 4 yrs for us & Still Have Bubbles!!!--I think there are more bubbles from the pens..
Gotta check out Julie's method--
